So my friend says, "Hey, Josh, our mutual friend's birthday is coming up, and she'd like the Batman Animated DVD Vol II. Would you care to split the cost?"

"Why, Sean," I say, "I most certainly would!"

"Fantastic!" he replies. "I found a smashing deal on Overstock.com. Would you place the order?"

"With vigor!" I chirped in response.

Three weeks past. Two weeks overdue for said birthday. I'm wondering where the ****ing Hell my God-damned gift is. Then I receive this little blossom of a message in my inbox today:

Oh, my, my, my! What a conundrum! They never shipped my item, instead giving me in-store credit as some sort of bull**** refund, as if that's worth anything.

Well, I'll simply e-mail the address they so thoughtfully supplied. Oh, my! It doesn't exist. How cheerful! I guess I shall e-mail their contact directly. What's that? A minimum of 48 hours before a response? My, oh, my!

I had a similar problem with Amazon.com once... Then ended up refunding my purchase with a check, and gave me a 5$ credit which I've yet to use. Was really irritating, but at least they did their best to resolve it.
If you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice.

I ordered a pair of knee pads online from lightfighter.com. Their site said they had the item in stock, but they didn't. So they made me wait for about two months, and finally, I just canceled my order and bought them somewhere else. They even sent me a confirmation e-mail telling me that my order had in fact been canceled and taken off their list.

About six months later, my credit card gets charged for 50$. I receive an e-mail from them, telling me that my kneepads had been sent.

It took three e-mails of explaning for their dumb secretary to understand the error. She finally told me to return the item, and that my credit card would be refunded, so I did exactly that.

They finally receive their package, and then they send me an e-mail that went something like this:

"We sent you your order, but there seems to have been a shipping error and it's been returned to us."

I sent them a pretty pissed off e-mail with insults and profanities - and that seems to have gotten it into their heads. The next day, they refunded me the price of my purchase, but they refused to refund border taxes, even though it was their stupid mistake. If it had been anything than 5 bucks I would've sued their asses.
The music industry is a cruel and shallow money trench where thieves and pimps run free, and good men die like dogs. There's also a negative side.

Overstock.com blows chunks. I ordered my first MOMO off their and had to deal with them for 2 weeks straight to get it sorted out. They sent me a broken wheel that wouldn't even turn on, wow they sure refurbed that one. What a mess.

Best thing I've read here all day. Thank you.

Wolfy, I suggest you get right on that technology. Then send it to me for the fun of it.

My friend placed a huge order of DVDs (mostly TV shows you cant get out here) from some US online shop. The order was so big they sent it in 7 seperate large cardboard boxes. Only 3 of them ever made it through the mail down here to Australia. He kicked up a huge fuss with them and in the end they couldnt be bothered figuring out where and what went wrong, so they just sent him the entire order again, including a bunch of doubles he had already recieved. Free DVDs for the rest of us! :D

That always annoyed me...probably the reason I'll never shop there.

I never had a problem with Amazon. I had a DVD "lost in the mail" (ie, the people in the mail room probably took it...oy...the lies they told me...) I e-mail Amazon and they were very friendly and asked if I wanted a refund or my DVD. I said my DVD and they sent it to me 2nd-day mail. yay!

That's the first time I've ever heard of a problem with Lightfighter..I've only made one purchase with them, but I have no complaints. They're a respected retailer on any airsoft forum..

If you ever have reason to contact them again, email the owner..IIRC, his name is Mike. Not 100% sure, though. Seems to be a good guy..
