The new James Bond.

Personally I think they should of stuck with Brosnan.
I can't think of anything to put here right now.

I think they should ditch the whole series. Ian Fleming is probably rolling in his grave at the bastardizations modern America has done to his work.

For some reason I don't believe it. He doesn't have the bond look, and he appears equally as old as brosnan..

He looks too skinny in that pick to be Bond.

That guys looks older than Bronan. He's not nearly as handsome, either.
2005-04-06, 11:32 PM #9
He's 37. Brosnan is like 50.

And look at Roger Moore. Was he "good looking"? And Sean Connery? Brosnan looks the most like a womanizer, but Connery best played it.

Exactly. This guy has MY image of bond written all over him. Pierce just has the pretty boy looks.

At least it wasn't Eric Bana...I like him, but he would have made a terrible Bond. Psh...they should just get Sean Connery play him again. :o

I want to see Connery play a Bond villian. Or Roger Moore. Now that would be good.

Connery has been asked to play as a Bond villian. He won't do it.

Because, you know, they've never used clowns or women named Pussy in the older movies, and he never wrote any books named Casino Royale...

Connery had to take acting lessons to stop being Bond, I doubt he would want to go back.

I guess we'll have to wait and see to know if he's worthy of the name.

Ralph Fiennes should be the next bond. He's got the looks and the character for it.

Wow. New Bond? Ah, whatever. The series has been in the toilet ever since Tomorrow Never Dies. Die Another Day was the final flush.

Doesn't anyone ever remember Dalton? Yeah, Connery had the charm and Moore was entertaining, but Dalton truly fit the Fleming book character of James Bond. The Living Daylights and License to Kill were great films!

Brosnan should stay. I would say, "Bring Dalton [or Moore, maybe . . .] back, but they are too old."

Supposedly, I read somewhere that Dalton declined to do a James Bond movie after License to Kill ('89) because he didn't like the direction of the new scripts. Maybe he saw that the future for the series was doomed (besides
Goldeneye of course).

I totally agree. Like many British actors, the guy is underrated. I look forward to seeing him in Goblet of Fire!

(he was also born in Suffolk according to IMDB, the same county of England as me!)

Also, I agree with JDKNITE188 that Tomorrow Never Dies was not a highpoint in the franchise, but World is not enough was very good in my opinion, and DAD is passable, although most certainly not memorable.

While both Dalton and Moore were great as Bond imo, and Living Daylights is probably my #1 fave Bond movie of all time, they are not quite the image of Bond that Brosnan is in my mind's eye. I really don't think Brosnan looks too worse for wear of any of the bonds either, if anything, I think he's aged one of the best among them. This new fellow looks a bit dubious, and I wish they could have stuck with Brosnan, but one picture does not determine tihs guy's attractiveness, and it certainly doesn't gauge his on-screen presence and charisma. Let's give him a shot and see where it goes.

A better pic, indeed.

The thing about the Bond role is that it can get you type cast in a sense. Either the public sees you as Bonds and don't go to any movies you do, or you don't get offered any roles because you are viewed as Bond by the movie execs.

Sadly, that is the truth. So, if you look at it from this perspective, I suppose it could be either a good/bad thing that a *relative* unknown (at least, outside of the U.K.) get cast in the role - good in that people will be able to watch him and not instantly associate him with another famous role or franchise, and bad in that (as Avenger said) he might find it hard to get his movie career back after he's hung up the tuxedo. . .

But Brosnan was able to get films after playing Bond, so was Connery. I think Brosnan might still make movies, albeit not often or popular.

And License to Kill was a good movie? That was the arm put of James Bond films. Alot of people laugh at the thought of Dalton being Bond. License to Kill was too violent for no reason.
I can't think of anything to put here right now.

Yes, but it took a while for him to get over the Bond aura. Hell, he even came back and made another Bond movie, albiet an unofficial one.

Yeah, I realize that a bunch of people don't like Dalton for some reason. Meesa not know why. License was just a darker movie, a different approach. It was about revenge. I didn't think that it was a lot more violent, though.

Daft_Vader, I clap at the fact that you place The Living Daylights at the top of the list. It is my favorite too.
