If this is for a school paper, you shouldn't say anyone else but Lee Harvey Oswald did it or else you'll probably get a shotty grade, you can theorize, but don't state it as fact.

Why should you deserve respect just because you are dead. It's nothing special to die...everybody dies. He should be respected for the things he did while living, not be respected because he is dead. I'm not saying he doesn't deserve respect, but he doesn't deserve it for being dead.
