After 2 1/2 months of insanely hard work, stress, frustration, and fun, my last show ever at Broadneck High School is over. If you guys had any idea how much time I've spent at school for the past 2 weeks you wouldn't believe it. But I spent all of last weekend there painting sets (which looked amazing by the way, an astonishing feat since the week before the show we hadn't even started builing the sets) So in addition to the late hours spent rehearsing, I could also be found on saturday and sunday working all day and late into the night on sets. Well...working may be a bit of a strong word for it since after we worked, we goofed off. A lot. anyway, so last week was tech week which means, if you don't know, staying at school until 10 and 11 at night and then getting up at 6 in the morning to go to school. We also had trouble with a completely incompetent director, so it ended up the majority being student run, which made it all that much better when it finally completely come together in the end. it was awesome, I was so proud. But anyway, the thing is, I'm a senior, and I've been involved in the shows all 4 years and I helped out backstage in 7th and 8th grade since my brother was on stage crew. This was my last show ever. So me and all of the rest of the seniors, and juniors, and hell, everyone, was bawling. I'm dead serious, we cried before the show, we cried during intermission, we cried at the end of the show. We were just a bunch of wet blankets (and it was crazy since it usually takes a whole hell of a lot to make me cry and yesterday I would start again at the drop of a hat) I think it may have to be something you experience for youself to understad, I mean we kind of (as corny as it sounds) become a family, so people who have never been involved before were bawling as well. anyway, it was a great show. then we had the cast party and I spent the night and we all ended up getting like 3 hours of sleep so based on the past 2 weeks, I've had very little sleep. I just wanted to kind of share the story with you and post some pics of the show (actually, this whole thing is an excuse to cry again and post pics of the show)

The problem is that I only have a rehearsal shot or 2 because while my dad did take pictures during the show, we're having problems downloading them onto the computer for some reason So hopefully this and some discussion will hold you over until I get it working. I can't wait to get the DVD though! Thakns for listening!!!

(and PS the show was carousel and I played Nettie)

That's right folks, she did it all WITHOUT a sugar high.

A VERY fun play, though.

Wrong movie to be quoting, but success is sweet in any case :) (and I just happen to be a BTtF fan, explaining why I chose that particular reference)

A very big congratulations to you on a job well done. :D
May the mass times acceleration be with you.

Am I the only one who thought this was a Logan's Run reference? Thought it was a clever 30th birthday thread.

I was there, IN PERSON, to see the glorious Sugarless in person. And let me tell you, she was stupendous! Fantastic! Wonderfulorific, if you will.

During the intermission, I ran outside and picked some flowers off a tree for her.

Unfortunately, they smelled really bad.. But it's the thought that counts, right?

No dud. It doesnt.

I saw it too, and while I dont particurally like the play, they did a really good job with it, and surgarless was especially good,

I'm about half a block south of Baltimore, in AA county.

I didn't realize so many people from this board lived in this tiny little craphole of a state.

Maryland sucks :P

One of the highest cancer rates in the country, no local music scene outside of crappy emo, and REALLY crappy "hardcore" bands.

We are also the 5th richest state in the country, have close access to Washington DC, Philidelphia, Richmond, and even New York City. We are right on the water, have great weather, and have a host of sporting activities all around.

Our bay stinks, and is polluted. Crab yeilds have been way down for years.

The crabs themselves, are small to begin with.

Being close to DC is great... escpecially since it's the biggest target in the United States.

The only thing cool Richmond and Phillie are good for is that they're big and in the way. So the bands that don't stop in Maryland usually stop in Phillie or Richmond.

Ok. Im going to come up there and drown you in the bay.

Euhg.

Maybe you don't know how bad it is because you don't live near it...

When it's windy, all you can smell is the bay... it's freaking gross.
2005-04-11, 11:34 AM #26
we all live very close to the bay actually. And maryland is a great place to live!

I'd post more pics, but the ones I have are mostly backstage and cast party pictures, not actual performance pics.

Look on the bright side - you only get hit by the crappy shots!
The music industry is a cruel and shallow money trench where thieves and pimps run free, and good men die like dogs. There's also a negative side.

It was more of a blossum anyway.... *grumbles something*

And Fish vs. Rob- That was hilarious. :D

The reason the cancer rate is so high is because there used to be a nuclear waste dumb about 20 miles from here.

And to everyone else- Madquack, Fishstickz, Sugarless and I all live within 15, 20 minutes of each other. Geb and, apparently Rob, live about 30-35 minutes north.

darth raven- wow, yes, I definitely had a whole lot of fun with musicals throughout high school. But I've never been part of such a close cast.

and Gebohq: Okay, here's us pulling Ryan up over the balcony at andrew's house at the cast party (kind of tradition)
