And thus, the reign that is sesame street comes to a disappointing end. Dark times, are these.

Is nothing sacred?

At least they haven't ruined the Count.

Count > all other Sesame Street characters

I think the changes are justified. Like the article said, they're not totally changing the character, they're just having him cut back a bit so it's not showing kids it's okay to gorge yourself with cookies.

Apparently, parents aren't smart enough to telltheir kids that eating cookies all the time isn't good for them.

Sesame Street is a children's eductional show. Parents should be able to trust it to give their kids good information. They shouldn't have to correct what the show is telling their kids.

You think I can get some sort of compensation on childhood memory rapings by TV execs/Hollywood?
Code to the left of him, code to the right of him, code in front of him compil'd and thundered. Programm'd at with shot and $SHELL. Boldly he typed and well. Into the jaws of C. Into the mouth of PERL. Debug'd the 0x258.

Teletubbies is also cosidered, or was considered, a children's educational show. Would you say that it could also be trusted?

Actually, now that I think of it, my early childhood years of watching sesame street may be the cause for my craving of cookies, seeing that blue monstrosity gorging himself with cookies! I could have had a six pack! Damn you Sesame Street!

i watched sesame street when i was a tadpole. my parents gave me cookies when i was allowed to have them. the cookie jar was not left out for me to gorge myself whenever i felt like it. i got a cookie or 2 about once a week with some milk to dip them in.
cookie monster is a puppet. he is not a real living thing.
i rarely keep crap in the house because even though i control my kids diets and how much crap they eat as a responsible parent should, i would sometimes get up for work at 6am and find my youngest boy eating a large bag of potato chips while watching tv.

this is 100% the fault of irresponsible parents!

btw, it's vegitarian week at my house this week.

I'm confused. Is that sarcasm or not. Sorry. :p

I know that I never learned anything from Sesame Street. Of course, there wasn't a whole lot of TV watching in my house when I was a youngun (which may also be part of the problem). I never learned that eating lots of cookies is okay from Cookie Monster. I learned that it wasn't from my mom.

Oh, and this is relevant:

I never liked all the educational kids programs, I never watched Sesame Street, and I always switched channels during the eductional bits of other programs.

I wanted heroes going around fighting the forces of evil, healthy and good tv.

Sesame street rocked, but I don't remember cookie gorging.
