What do I do? mada's email
2005-04-13, 10:29 PM #1
Moving email addresses to new server, I see madaventor's email here. He's got 266 messages, probably all spam. I'm inclined to delete the email address and all the emails w/out looking. Any suggestions?

Well it wouldn't be proper to read his private emails, gone or not.

I'm wondering if I should just delete it or provide it to someone like his parents. I dunno...

i'd say, if you can contact his parents, leave it up to them what you should do with it... or something like that
Moo.

Personally I don't think it would be proper for his parents to read his private emails either, but that's just my opinion.

Why not? Its just the same as if he'd left a diary behind. I say make it accessible to whoever his possessions were passed on to, most likely his parents.

I would look at the inbox... just don't read anything... if it's spam delete them... if it's not spam, leave them and give the account information to his parents.

Of course, I have nothing against asking his parents what they think, and respecting their wishes.

It's probably all spam. I think I'm just going to let them be and when recon cleans out our info from their server they will get wiped. Come to think of it, now that the domains have transferred, I really have no way to access them anymore.

i dunno.. what if there is something in there he didn't want his parents to see.. like if I wanted to keep my porn subscription a secret... maybe u should just delete the account.

I'd look at it first, then send it to your parents. You dont want to pull a geraldo and make a big hullabaloo about "What's inside Mada's email vault!", only to find out theres nothing there or things that might upset his parents.

If you still have access to them, and want me to try and get ahold of his parents to see, let me know...

Knowing him I incredibly highly doubt that he has anything that he wouldn't want his parents to see in there.

Or if you prefer, let me know, and I can set up an e-mail account my own personal web site for the e-mails to be sent to and either I can look them over for you, and pass on only what's important to his parents, or I can just give his parents the server information and have them check it.

They're on the old server, I can't really get to it anymore.

Well I don't know about mada, but I don't think I'd want people checking my private e-mails after I'm dead.

Honestly best left deleted. Even if it's not all junk mail, I doubt there's any real valuable correspondance on there.

And what would Brian's parents do with it?

I'd say go out of your way to have it not deleted.

Too bad it sounds impossible.
I don't think his account had too much of any kind of memories attached to it. We still have his work.

I was about to say that, congratulations for stealing all my relavence to this thread.

Since you can't access them, I guess they'll just have to be deleted by the clean-up people... It's shame, I think his parents would've appreciated you giving them that, it might bring them back some memories of his personality. I don't know. :(
