Doesn't Frontpage come with most copies of Windows. It's a pretty decent WYSIWYG editor, though it creates some ugly code.

...ugly code? Well, that's one way of putting it. I'd say it creates ton of needless code that clutter your files, increase filesize and download time (negligible amounts, but the point remains valid), and creates more of a headache than it relieves.

rofl.. frontpage is funny, it takes longer to go through and tidy the code up than it does to make the site in a text editor in the first place.

As ugly as Microsoft Word's? Word outputs ugly code too.

If you really want a WYSIWYG editor, for the love of all that is unholy use something like CoffeeCup, which will let you see what code you are putting in as you do so.

Actually I once found this free WYSIWYG web developer on the internet that I think was quite decent. I think the name had something to with "1st place" or something... (?)

[EDIT] Ah, I found it.
It's called 1st Page 2000. Though apparently it's WIn 98-NT only...

However, this site has a whole list of free editors.

"TextPad" (http://www.textpad.com/) all the way [http://forums.massassi.net/html/biggrin.gif]

I simply wouldn't code Java any other way [http://forums.massassi.net/html/biggrin.gif]
*cough*shamelessplug*cough* [http://forums.massassi.net/html/wink.gif]

Seriously though, it's got everything I need, a whole multitude of different language support, syntax highlighting, additional programming support libraries that are avilable to download for free, resume workspace ability and intelligent auto-indentation usage, but heck - you can check out all the features at: http://www.textpad.com/about/features.html

Hope this helps [http://forums.massassi.net/html/biggrin.gif]
