Now, has anyone ever been able to escape the supernova? This is the fifth time I restart the mission and I've never made it to the jump node in time.

I just love how at the end, they say something like "Alpha lead died bravely, ensuring that all civilians made it safely through and disregarding the order to pull out." But as soon as I heard the star was going supernova, I thought "screw the civilians! I'm getting the **** out!! MORE POWER TO ENGINES! MORE POWER! AFTERBUUUUURRN!!"

Such a great game!

I don't remember if I've ever even beaten it, it's a tough game. But it's one of my all time favorites.

That game is so very good.
I've escaped the supernova. It's been a while, but I think I tried to stay as close to the jump node as possible while still doing whatever I was told to. There isn't much difference in the ending, though.

Never played it, but I probably should.

I agree, freespace1/2 are the two best flight sims ever, right in front of TIE Fighter.

I found a copy at my dad's office, just sitting on a shelf. I was going to grab it on my way out, but forgot..

It was Freespace 1, 2 and the expansion pack

I've only played Freespace 1 demo, and I enjoyed it alot! I might have to invest in the full games.

I've played the demo of the Great War, and it's soooooo fantastic.

I could only play the mission where you have to defend the giant ship from attack until it can jump out, and I eventually got bored with that, so I turned and tried to destroy the massive ship myself.

My favorite time was when I brought every one of it's major and subsystems down to 0%, but the ship itself was still [barely] alive.
