Picked this game up at Fry's a couple of days ago because it was on sale for $35 from the regular $50. I'd only seen some really good looking screenshots, but the actual theme of the game intrigued me as well.

So far, I like it a lot. I'ts tough, and you end up playing most missions more than twice. Namely because of the realistic rules that you cannot fire at a suspect unless they are putting you are someone else at risk, i.e. shooting at you. So if you kill them and they weren't shooting you or about to, you lose points. You can shoot them in the leg or something as well, but you lose points for that as well, just not as much. If you equip a beanbag shotgun instead of a normal gun, you can shoot em all you want and not get points deducted... but where's the fun in that?

Oh well, I guess that's one of the reason it's good, it keeps you thinking. Another thing I like is the mission scenarios are set, but the locations and actions of the suspects and victims are totally random each time you play. You may play once, get killed going into a certain room, and then you play it over and there'll be no one in the room. Kind of cool I guess. Makes it harder.

SWAT 4 is fun but I really wish there was a quicksave feature; I mean, this game is friggen hard.

As far as the no shooting anyone goe si usually just equip my whole team with Beanbag Shotguns. They work like a charm.

Yeah, the non-lethal shotguns work real well, but I also like to play in a more realistic sense. Do you really think a SWAT team would go into a building against lethally armed and well armored suspects, with beanbag guns? Possibly, but not likely. Oh well, back to shooting people in the leg. I was reading up on it, apparently if you shout at least 2-3 times, and then pop em in the leg after they don't comply, then it won't take points off. Gonna have to check that out.

Anyone happen to know how to the FPS display on? I can't for the life of me find out how.

My clan got started from Swat 3 so now we are on to Swat 4. I don't have it yet, but alot of the other guys do. We are getting a dedicated server up as soon as we gather all the files together and upload em.

Yeah, it's not really realistic in that sense. If there was someone that was walking/runing towards you with a gun or just in general after you shouting at them to freeze, would you hesitate to shoot them? It's either your life or some idiot who must think you're joking... THAT'S a hard decision.

I'd shoot them then yell "GET DOWN ON THE FLOOR."
