I have been away from Massassi for so long now, only returning now and again for a few minutes when I get the chance. My school just finished our production of William Shakespeare's "Much Ado About Nothing" - 'twas very fun!
My school website is here, might still have some mention of the play: http://acacademy.org/
It went really well, the production was run almost entirely by students, with the mentorship of some former stage actors (some very kind and sincere people) - the set was beautiful, it was meant to be set in Italy. Here's the relevant info if you're interested (including a list of characters and the entire play): http://www.opensourceshakespeare.org/views/plays/playmenu.php?WorkID=muchado
It was incredibly fun, I was Don Pedro, one of the lead roles, even though it was my first attempt at acting ever! I had 141 lines (about 7-8 words per line average) - plus I have an English accent, which is quite nice in North Carolina (I was born in Suffolk). We worked so hard on it, and three performances, one on Thursday and Friday night, and then a Saturday matinee (sp?) though unfortunately we only got a total of less than 500 people for all three showings! My school's Spring Musical ("Guys and Dolls") got over 1,500.
If only more people had come, because the people who did come loved it immensely and were there several othern ights as well. It was so nice to be liked, people were saying I should do the musical next year. But I can't sing, and would much rather do a play, which I think is much more meaningful and interesting. The faculty seems to be against our production because it's "STL" (student theatre league) and they only want a musical in future years. That's why we got so little publicity and such small attendance.
If anyone's interested, I can upload some pictures as well as the playbill. Tell me about your productions, and any tips for acting!
