Actually I saw this on another site so I transferred it here. Someone on that site said the same thing I did. I stole his idea.

That sholdn't be a GTO, it should be a Monaro. Same thing, but whatever. Odd that foreign country uses a Viper as a police car. Unless it was a drug seizure or something like that.

It's a HSV GTO Monaro, even if it is in Australia. The lower end Series I to III HSV Monaros were badged as GTO's, the top end ones as GTS Monaros.

This was one of a couple loaned to Victorian and NSW police for 12 months on a trial basis a couple of years ago.

The Viper was only done up for a show-event, it's a policeman in it, but the car was only used at Sandown Raceway. Usually the pursuit cars used here are the local V8's.

GTO is a slow *** car. And this is coming from a guy who loves the Grand Prix and GTO. The GTO has potential but it is wasted. Sad really, the 350 HP 5.7 litre engine gets owned by the 240 HP 3.8 litre GTP.

New ones are much better. They have the 400hp LS2 from the new Corvette. The GTO's main problem is it's weight. It's really not a true muscle car (big engine in a small car), but at least it got half the formula right. Not to mention that the LS2 has HUGE potential for power. Too bad it might only be around for one more year after this.

Well I haven't seen the LS2 engines in actio. But if it does have the LS2 in it then yes, it has major potential, especially for the rear wheel drive. Toss a super charger under the hood and it'll tear up the tracks.
