So I'm watching this guy right now on TV on TLC and he did this trick at the opening. He held up a deck of cards and flipped through them really fast and said to look at a card and remember it. He then did it a second time, and I saw the queen of diamonds. He paused really fast at the 4 of hearts, and finished. He then pulled out the 4 of hearts and said "That's your card."

I was looking at the queen of diamonds.

BTW this thread is turning into word association.

I had a friend ask him for Fiona Apple's number.

Another one was the odd number question. I thought of 37, and so did the dude on the TV.

How does he do that levitation thing anyways? Does he use strings or what?
2005-04-26, 10:22 PM #6
You looked at the wrong card :p

Seriously, pretty sure I know what kind of a gaff he used, it's difficult not to see the card you are supposed to. That said, I'm surprised he didnt use a face card as his force card.

Which one did he do? What angle was the camera at? Did he have an audience?

Spork, from behind with an audience, looking at his feet from an angle.

And yeah, I *SAW* the 4 of hearts, but I *SAW* the queen of diamonds first.

Later he did the disappearing quarter on the back of this kids hand. He just stared for a minute then just went "Cool" like he was bored.

Depends. Blane I thin kdoes it differently, because I know he gets more air than most street magicians, I still haven't figured out his gimmick.

"Normal" people simply stand on their toes, in such a way (bad lighting, distance, flat heels, plain soles that blend w/ the background, etc) that it's not noticable, especially after the person has been told what they're seeing. Most people just freak because the presentation is in such a way where you really can't see that he's on his toes.

Blane on the other hand is different, I haven't figured it out. (But some of his other things I have ;) )

Ive seen him do it in tons of variations from lots of angles. Sometimes on the street, sometimes at a show.

Yeah, Blaine's is a special gimmick, I'm sure of it. My guess it's it's just a refined version of something already out there. But hey he can afford it. Newer levitations are much more advanced than just good angles, Darkjedibob, a lot of them use devices you have to buy or make yourself.

Anyone can levitate. All you need is a credit card and a DVD like this one:

I think the levatation is fake (well you know what I mean..:))
But the rest of his tricks are awsome, amazing stuff. Yea, I was watching it on TLC too.
