Some of oyu might remember my rant on how awesome Firefly was, the sci-fi western by Joss Wheadon. Well, the movie's coming out in September. The Trailer came out today.

You can drool now.

Or tell me you see nothing special and make me feel bad. Either way, you will watch it now. :)

Looks cool...except for the part with the little girl, that looks dumb.

And I've never heard of Firefly.

*raises hand*

Add me to the list of Firefly fans. But I refuse to download iTunes just to watch a movie trailer.

Only the supermassive trailer requires itunes, the other 3 stream.

The girl being utterly kickass is basically the story arc of the series.

The part with the girl was an unsolved part of hte series, she's a genius who's been experimented on. You never know what is quite going on with her in the show. People are after her on more than one occasion, adding more tension to the show.

Anyway, 4 posts ago this thread was dying so here are some stills from the movie trailer.

An empire chasing some rebels in space... sounds familar. ;)

The trailer is pretty cool.

It's not terrible. It's strange at first, but it's catchy if you listen to it a few times.

that was quite sexy

never saw firefly, want to. can you rent the DVDs? I got lucky with buying Band of Brothers without having seen it. It kicked some serious monkey ***. But I don't know if my luck will hold ;).

Firefly was the single greatest television show ever created. Its cancellation was a crime against humanity.

Fortunately, this movie shows that hope is not lost for our race.

Now excuse me while my mind explodes from the awesomeness of that trailer.

It will. Band of Brothers in the one and only thing better than Firefly available on DVD.

I was dumb and didn't see this thread when I created one.

So I'll just repeat myself real quick:

I loved Firefly, and this trailer looks quite good. The one thing bothering me is the sound in space. Joss did a pretty good job with that aspect of physics in the show, and I'd like to see it hold. Having no sound in space just shows the attention to detail he has. I'd hate for it to change just to make it suitable for Hollywood.

Other than that though, I can honestly say that I have never looked forward to a movie as much as I am looking forward to this movie.

first off, they aren't rebels, they are more underhanded "merchants"... It's a lot like if they made a movie out of the PC game "Privateer". I'm so glad they kept the original cast. It's cool that we finally get to see the reavers.... I WAS expecting the effects to be better though, the CG looks a lot like it did in the series, but that shouldn't pose too much of a problem... I also hope they keep their whole "NO SOUND IN SPACE" thing that they do.. that is awesome.

Yes, the trailer looked very promising. It'll be good to see some new Firefly, as the series was indeed cut so short.

I saw some of the episodes and tried to follow it. I did not see all of the series, but from the episodes I saw, it was different and I like that with fiction. It had a good plot and seemed to make sense.

I may well watch the film

seen a couple of shows, on TV it always seems to be in a random order, probably half the reason the show never fully took off.

watching on DVD as I did the shows come together a lot better and it is very good, just wish there was more, hopefully the film will do this series justice.

great trailer btw.

i hope it closes the gaps (the preacher? the girl?) or it sets up for a re-launch of the series.

I thought the special effects looked quite a bit better than the series'... not that Firefly had bad effects or anything, but they were mostly understated.

I liked the trailer, though I didn't love it... I'm hoping the marketing chumps just put crap bits up so they could make a "standard" trailer... I think River's attacking bit would have been better had it NOT been done in slo-mo, too... slow motion is a bit cliched, now.

Still, it is Joss, and it does have the original cast, so I've no doubts it will be great.
