Band of Brothers on the History Channel

It's probably edited (as opposed to ABC's showing Saving Private Ryan last year). Still I head this was suppose to be a good show.

Had it on DVD for over a year, never watched it :/. Never have time. My brother and father have booth seen it though, and they love it.

It's not edited, except that there's a commercial break right now and i don't know where they got the time to do that. maybe it's an hour and a half.

I ahve it on DVD and i'm STILL watching it on tv. XD For the 100th time, it seems.

Scratch that, it's slightly edited, but i don't think enough so to matter much.

When I saw "History Channel", I got excited. Then I remembered that it's "History Television" up here in Canada [http://forums.massassi.net/html/frown.gif]. It'd be great if HTV ran it. I have it taped from Global a couple years ago, but the quality is poor, and I missed an episode. It's the best piece of TV film work ever produced, IMO.
2004-04-11, 5:04 PM #7
If it were an actual movie, and not a tv show, it'd be the number one rated movie on imdb.com. But they dont count tv shows on their top 250 list. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/frown.gif]

Eh. It's not bad. I just think that combined with this and Saving Private Ryan, that Spielberg has an unhealthy fascination with shooting/executing surrendered prisoners/unarmed men...
If it breaks, you get to keep both pieces.

Silly boy! It's an -awesome- series. I didn't much care for SPR as it wasn't that well written, but they really nailed it with BoB.

Borrowed my friends DVD set the other day, never seen it before (damn work). Only watched the first two episodes. The first was ok, David Schwimmer's complete inability to act (or perhaps his inability to act as anyone other than Ross, I'm not sure) ruined it a little. Episode 2 was really good though, the Brecourt assault scene was like watching a live-action version of Call of Duty.

My brother purchased the box set awhile back and I watched the entire series in 3 days. It was great.

And how MoH was JUST like Saving Private Ryan and blah blah blah, it doesn't really matter. They were good.

Still though, dude. "Live action CoD"? I hope you see how wrong that is. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/smile.gif]

Episode 2 airs today, according to you guys. This is where it gets very interesting.
2004-04-12, 2:39 PM #18
Spork, for the love of God, watch the rest as soon as possible.

BoB is easily my favorite thing ever committed to film. I won't be watching it on the history channel, but an ad I saw in Time for it has driven me to rewatch my DVDs yet again. It's actually getting pretty unhealthy how many times I've seen it.
2004-04-12, 2:45 PM #19
I saw most of last night's episode. I didn't realize it was only the first episode though. Good, I didn't miss anything. Guess I pulled a Homer.

Well I guess that's what my friend gets for buying an 'interestingly' packaged version in Bali earlier this year...

Might just go out and buy the retail version myself, I liked what I saw and you people all seem to think it's good enough. It's either that or Twin Snakes this week.... Hmmmm.

Hairy.

Yeah, how's this for odd? My parents haven't been the least bit interested in my love-life my entire life, and now that prom is soon my Dad all of a sudden seems concerned that if I don't find a date and go it will mean I'm a social failure.
I don't get it... I accepted that fact a long time ago, why is he just now realizing it?

I saw an episode last night, it was good. Better than good. Bloody realistic, actully. More realistic than SPR...

No, check the schedule at Historychannel.com. Every episode airs at 9:00 pm on Monday. The third episode airs next Monday. You really feel for Easy Company as you watch more episodes.

The bonus DVD is worth getting. There's a great making of, a boot camp diary and a documnetry on the members of Easy. They're all really good.
