Looking awesome, if I do say so myself. The game is supposed to be released this fall.

They're not really the first screenshots, there was a technology movie released a while ago. Those do look awesome and I love Serious Sam :)

Might we see the rebirth of Serious Editting?

Yeah.

Watch the video. The thing is awesome. But yeah, SS2 looks suh-weet.

First screenshot reminds me of Far Cry.

I can't wait to play this...

Gah. Yet another good reason for me to stop blowing all my paychecks and start save up to get a new videocard.

Is it just me, or does this not look like anything spectacular?

It looks like they took the UT2004 engine, plopped in some slightly-high poly models and some better lighting, and themed it for Serious Sam...

Don't get me wrong, it doesn't look BAD, but its nothing to rave over.

Unreal was the last time I got hyped about graphics. I mean every new engine just looks like the logical next step.
But if the did an engine that made everything look worse, now that'd be a surprise...
Sorry for the lousy German

The grass, the trees, the extremely high quality textures, the lighting, the models, hell, it ALL looks good. Combined with Croteam's patented awesomeness as far as stuff like this goes, we know it'll run fairly well on all machines, and it'll most likely have a fun-*** co-op. It doesn't look as good as Unreal 3, but it looks really good still. I suggest you watch the video they have out. It's awesome.

Agreed. Even then, the graphics were never what did it for me with SS, it was the incredibly awesome co-op mode.

Never tried the co-op, is it easy to set up with just a cable connecting two computers? Or is it an internet-only kind of thing.

I doubt I'll even bother playing a demo for the game, seeing as I get bored with most FPS games after 5 minutes.

The graphics are okay. The grass is the only thing that really looks good to me, compared with other games.

Any network connection will work, although I wouldn't recommend dialup.

Oh man, I've been waiting for another Serious Sam game. Totally excellent 90s style FPS raw fun.

What a beaut. I just hope it's longer than the previous SS's.

Yeah, finally, a REAL FPS!

What about ethernet over parallel? Null modem cables? Ethernet over carrier pigeons?

:o

[Of course, theres always the "stationwagon full of backup tapes" approach...great bandwidth, but the latency is aweful!]

How are all the other games in the same genre not FPS's?

They're not REAL ones I think was the point.

Too much sneaking around, too much realism (like 2 or 3 bullets will kill you), not enough enemies, weapons aren't fun to use, not enough humor. Serious Sam is the antidote to all of those concerns.

Sweet, I'm just going to put an ethernet cable between my comp and my roommate's and we can go co-op crazy :) Think that would be fine with a wireless network going too, or would the comps get an attitude? I've never tried that before.

I do.

I think the grass looks pretty damn good for Serious Sam.

Anyone who's played SS should know that you're never going to see just 3 guys, what is likely is that in that shot you're about to be ambushed... or you're being chased.

Thats my FAVORITE thing about the game. It's fast paced, it has A TON of monsters at any given time. Frantic. And the previous games ran AWESOME and looked GREAT even on my AMD K6II machine, which was only 400 mhz and 128mb of ram.

Mann, the series was way too much fun. Hope they have the coop mode :)

...I could have sworn on my life that there was already a Serious Sam 2. Am i missing something here? Do you mean 3?
2005-04-29, 7:28 PM #33
Theres a Serious Sam:The Second Encounter.

But there isn't yet a Serious Sam 2.
2005-04-29, 7:31 PM #34
Ohhhh ok. ..Still weird. Poor choice of titling for the series IMO its very confusing.

Hopefully, if it has a really good base coop support i'd be willing to invest a lot of time in modding it.

Compared to the rest of the graphics and compared to some other games' grass, yes.
