Family Guy is BACK!
2005-05-01, 6:28 PM #1
okay. Family Guy has picked up right where it left off. The nostalgic, dirty, side-cracking humor is BACK. Hell yes!

Damn you beat me.

I loved the opening sequence though with him naming off every TV show canceled on Fox.
I can't think of anything to put here right now.

That was a great opener. There were a couple of scenes that flat had me laughing out loud. It was great.

American Dad however, after the pilot and this, it's 0/2 in my book. It just seems too much like FG, while not as funny. If it gets canned, I wouldn't be surprised (and right now - disappointed)

So FG's premiere gets a thumbs up.
AD gets a thumbs down

American Dad isn't for humor--it's for taking the ultimate cheapshots at fox. God seth hates fox so much, it's palpable while watching his shows. The irony.

But yeah, I was just laughing out loud when he was like Lois, everyone knows christians don't believe in gravity

I thought the American Dad pilot was really funny. The whole bit when he shoots the toaster and all... That had me cracking up.

That was about the ONLY funny part.

I'm glad the new season of Family Guy isn't suffering the same fate as AD. FG is back, and better than ever!

I have never seen the tables around the TVs in the meal hall so packed as when Family Guy was just on.

New Family Guy is winnar!

American Dad had its moments. Better than the pilot, but nowhere near Family Guy.

I thought it was trying too hard to be funny and crude. It seemed like the flashbakcs were being forced on us.

Family Guy was its usual goodness.

American Dad I thought was descent too, but it feels like it could just as easily just be a 'part' of Family Guy instead of its own show. It seems obvious that a "Family Guy formula" was used anyway.

Yup, I was telling genki a few days ago on another thread: It takes a Minnessassian to tell the truth.

I didn't get to see the first episode, but the second was hardly the family guy I laughed until I cried from. I'm certainly not calling it quits anytime soon, but I was quite disapointed for it being the newest season's first episodes.

American Dad is sadly identical in characters, albiet somewhat different. That said, I think the comedy was all forced, but it still isn't half bad. I still don't understand why a second show needed to be made: Just add these people in as a family from across the street or some stuff.

But I have to agree with DJ Yoshi:
Lois, everyone knows christians don't believe in gravity
Was possibly the funniest thing I've heard in a while.

Yeah, it's pretty much like they took the Joe character further than what he already is and made a show around that.

Did anybody who watched the Simpsons, Family Guy and then American Dad notice the extreme amount of gay jokes?

Yes, I did, and that's the main reason I don't like American Dad; it simply inults/stereotypes/etc too many groups. Family Guy gets away with it because it's classy.

And Family Guy wasn't as good as I hoped, but it was still excellent. I'm sure it will get better, though. The first few episodes of Season 3 weren't that great either, if I recall.
2005-05-01, 9:40 PM #34
Hey, it's not like we've seen the whole fourth season, so why bash just the first episode of it? I'm glad you guys still have faith in the thing, but geez.

Anyhoo, I thought it was pretty good. I mean yeah, seeing Quagmire, Joe, Cleveland, and Mayor Adam West would've been good, but they're bound to pop up next week or something. For the first episode, I thought it did a decent job of affirming that it was going to pick up where it left off and that there was nothing to be concerned about.

I loved the new Episode... I've only been a Family Guy fan for a short time (less than a year...) but I loved it. Fit right in with all the rest of the episodes.

I hope they don't take long getting this season to DVD once the season's over... I already wish I had the first episode on DVD.
2005-05-01, 10:14 PM #37
Family Guy was great, but I expected it to be.

American Dad was like Family Guy, except not funny.
I bet you think that's funny, don't you.
2005-05-01, 11:00 PM #38
Family Guy was so money. American Dad... well, I was correct in concluding that they had already used every possible joke in the pilot.

I liked it a lot, although sometimes I felt as if they tried to force some of their "classic" jokes into the episode, which made it not funny. (The black weatherman, the guy at the end, etc.). Overall though, I thought it was damn good.
