I compiled a several page paper on end-of-the-world prophecy a few months ago. My conclusion was that the world would end somewhere around 2011-ish, and this Pope thing is very interesting. I'll definately save it.

Actually, the second link suggests that he might be a peace maker, thus "carrying the olive branch" in order to fulfill the prophecy of him being Gloria Olivae. This prediction was made by St. Malachy and it said that Gloria Olivae would be the pope prior to Petrus Romanus, whom he predicted would be the last pope (or the pope of the "End Times").

This, however, is not all inclussive. It may be that Benidict the XVI is indeed "Evil." In such case, he would be denounced an Antipope (surprisingly not uncommon) and thus the 111 Motto (Gloria Olivae) would not apply directly to him.

Very intresting read. We could quite possible go another 100 years or so even if the prophecy is true.

What about the saying how the end will come when we least expect it? If we all expect it soon, it will not come.

Well, the Bible does kind of say that anyone who says they know when the end's coming is rather full of it.

So all we have to do is have enough people claiming the world will end the next year, and it will never happen!

The disasters we've had over the last few years are really a drop in the bucket compared to the disasters of the middle ages.

And if enough people keep claiming that I'll die within the next 1000 years, it'll never happen, either. :p

Exactly, it cites 9/11 and the War in Iraq (laff) as examples that the end times are upon us. I don't know if this person is just really sheltered or just horrible with history, because those things really are just drops in a very large bucket.
