After all the trouble I went through trying to get one of these cards (and ending up with a GeForce 6800), I'm not entirely convinced that they ever really existed. So I'm just wondering, does anyone actually have one? If so, how/where/which top-level ATI manager were you related to/ when did you get it? Or was there never such a thing as the X800 XT? Just curious to see...

Jon'C does make a good point. The X850 is amazing. Might even run Unreal 3, who knows?

The way they're proposing their engine, not much from the new gen won't.

I have a 9700 unlocked to a 9700 Pro, clocked at 380/300 from 280/270. 100 MHz core overclock, the RAM won't go past 305. The GPU maxes at 388, I have them both down a small peg otherwise I get artifacts.

Even if I get a good job this summer, and work through the next school year, I probably won't buy a new video card until 2006 or 2007. There's too much changing in the industry to make a good investment. Good investment, hah, never lasts more than a year or two. I'm currently in the process of putting together a high end headphone rig. I have the headphones...now I just need a new soundcard and a real amp. Probably be a good $600 when I'm done.

I'm not much of a head-fier, but the Presonus HP-4 is a great headphone amp. I can't recommend a sound card though, mine's worth $1000+ Canadian. :p

Wow, this thread grew fast. Anyway, yes, I've had this signature for QUITE a long time. So if you're NOW just noticing it, you have no right to say it should changed.

By the way, I didn't make the phrase, a long ago co-worker programmed one of the computers at Frys to repeat that phrase over and over... quite hilarious at the time. Maybe I'll change it someday.

My PCI-Express X800XL will last me awhile

My Radeon 9800 pro which I picked up over a year ago is still going strong. I got it at a real bargain price in some sale, most places still charge more for it now than what I paid.
