And FYI, I never said ANYTHING about my opinion being RIGHT. I just said I hated it.

No, because I'm pretty sure you haven't heard a lot of rap, but you hate it anyways because it's rap. I find people who do that stupid.

Watch wear your s'ploding Rob, geez.

All I gotta say is, theres more to rap then just "gangsta rap" which unfortunatly is whats "popular" and only talked about.

I listen to the stuff that has lots of metaphors, similies, wordplay, yet still presents a deep or real meaning. I find it unreal how someone can freestyle verses that would take me months to write and perfect. :(

Stuff like this blows my mind, and why I love hip-hop:

"I jerk off inside books and give life to words
Leaving concepts stuck together you probably never heard"

my metaphors are dirty like herpes but harder to catch
like an escape tunnel in prison I started from scratch
and now these parasites wanna prosenna my asscap
trying to control perspective like an acid flashback

I wish I could write this good. :(

Can I ask why? (to rob) That kind of stuff really impresses me.

"I'm the black whole lyricist that'll take your shine away"

"Reality is nurishment, but people don't believe it
I guess its hard to stomach the truth like a bulimick
its a dirty game and nobody is willing to clean it"

It had that standard lame-o rhythm to it and the rhymes were pretty simplistic.

And besides, he used the word "asscap."
2005-05-03, 7:43 AM #54
The rhymes were simplisic yes, but the word play is extremely well done imo.

Complex rhymes are easy to write though, I wrote this in about 2 mins:

I razor-slit the rhymes made by a plagerist;
Rip his page-to-bits show him who the major-is;
Won't aim-and-miss, even in heavy rain-or-mist;
Kill satanists, with the blunt end of stakes-and-sticks;

What I have trouble with is doing what I posted previously, I just can't think of any creative wordplay.

I can't think of anything to put here right now.

Oh. So i should love it just because I haven't heard every friggin rap song in existance?

Sorry, No.

I find the enitre genre to be distasteful. And if you don't like that, sucks to be you.

I love it when you twist my words.

Give it a friggin chance. There's many different sections of rap, 'gansta' rap being one of them. You don't have to love OR hate it. Just like I don't hate emo, because I've heard a few emo bands I like. A FEW. But those few are good enough to make it so that I don't hate said genre.

I used to really dislike ska too, because I listened to a few bands I don't like. Yeah, that's now my FAVORITE genre.

But of course, if you want to be a narrow-minded idiot, that's up to you. ;)

I generally hate rap, but there are some artists that I think are really brilliant. I don't consider it music, though. I think it's something other than music, and that's not neccesarily a bad thing.

I don't really care for current rap, but back in my younger years (when 2pac and BIG were still alive), I listened to quite a bit of it.

I've given it a friggin chance. Several times. One of my best friends listens to the genre. I cannot stand it. At all. I just don't go for the whole rhyming and often cursing to a repetative bass beat thing.

So I've heard a decently wide variety aside from the utter crap that's played all over TV and the radio. I still don't like.

I thought all black people when through a sort of metemorphesis...

First they're born black.
Then they go into hybernation.
Then they come out of that hybernation white.
Then after the stress of suddenly being uncool, they go back to being black.
Then someone shoots them because they live on the opposite end of the country.
Then they release more records.

Dammit, my image of black people is completelly skewed:
Hell, I thought 50 Cent WAS Eminem, only after the white stage. :-(

I blame the media... and ubuu

My favorite Rap group, Deltron 3030, doesn't have more than a few cusswords in their songs, and has a really really good original sound.
