I just bought a turbo charger for my Grand Prix!

Since they don't make them for my car I gotta custom fabricate something. I bought it off a Nissan 300ZX, its the entire system cause they wouldn't just give me the blower part. So now I got the headers and piping, which I gotta disconnect and trash, then clean the blower and fabricate the piping needed for my car.

I'm so happy. It's sitting in a large 25 gallon plastic container in the gutter between me and my neighbors house (my land still since it's near the A/C). I'm happy.
I can't think of anything to put here right now.

That's awesome, man. If I were you I would fabricate some custom tube headers to go with it. You'll get alot more power from it that way.

Your mom has a super charger, which comes standard only on the 97+ GTP models. I have a pre-97 GTP thus no super charger. The 1989 and 1990 had a Turbo Grand Prix, only 1000 were ever made and it's next to impossible to find one. Plus a turbo charger on a 3.4 (your mom has a 3.8 with super) would decimate hers with the proper installation.

Yeah, I'm gonna have to figure that one out since headers aren't made for my car, but I gotta get some for the turbo.

Hers is a 3.6 with super, actually.

DJ Yoshi, as a Grand Prix enthusiast, I can tell you right now that unless we live in the twilight zone, she does not have a 3.6. I can tell you right now what all engines GM made for the Grand Prix.

2.8 (up until like 1990)
3.1
3100
3.4 (GTP and some other GM vehicles)
3400
3.8/3800 (97+)

Open the hood of her car and you'll see it read "3800 Series II) on the cover of the engine. If you have a digicam and it does say 3.6 then take a photo and I will take a photo of me bowing down to you.
I can't think of anything to put here right now.

I seriously doubt it's a 3.8, I thought those were only 2000+? Hers is a 98 series.

My friend has a 1997 Grand Prix GTP with a 3.8 engine. Trust me on this man, I love the 3.8 engine. If I ever blew the 3.4 engine in my car, I'd replace it almost immediately with the 3.8 engine. I almost did actually about 3 months ago but changed my mind cause I didn't have $5K sitting around.

The biggest difference between the years 1997 and 2003 was that after one of the years (Not sure if it was 97, 98, 99 or what) they modified the engine to give it 240 HP instead of 210, despite the supercharger. I think thats when it went from Series I to Series II. If you pop the hood on a 2004+ GTP you'll see it say 3800 Series III.
I can't think of anything to put here right now.

That reminds me, I need to make a thread about my new exhaust I just put on my car...

So how much did that baby cost you?

<Black_Bishop> I am Jack's low price guarantee

Awesome! Glad to hear you're doing it right and putting a turbo on there instead of a supercharger! I'll never understand why GM puts a supercharger on smaller engines. You need a new intake manifold and piping, headers, downtube etc. (not to mention all the gauges and sensors so you'll know when you're heading towards detonation). The headers shouldn't be that difficult to make. Any decent peformance shop should be able to do it for you. I just hope that turbo isn't too big for your engine, otherwise you'll get some turbo lag. How much boost do you plan on running?

$100, only cause they made me buy the entire set up from the car for it. I got part of the engine I think in the box. Thing weighs like 120 lbs. I asked if I could just have the blower, but they said no, cause after all, what good are the rest of the items? No one is gonna go and say "I want the manifold for a 300ZX Turbo even though I can't install them in my car without a turbo!" So yeah. Not to mention I don't think I would of been able to unbolt the thing there on the blower.

A supercharger would not fit in my engine bay without me removing the AC Compresser, and even then it's next to impossible to fit it to the engine. As for the turbo, it was designed for the 3.0L 200 HP V6 Nissan 300ZX. When the car is turbo it gets about 270 HP. I found a website that is all about the Z series cars, and the forum is very helpful. Some guys in my area too might be able to help me with it since they know the Z cars.

My car is a 3.4L 210 HP DOHC Twin Cam V6, and I am currently in the process of removing and replacing some engine parts with superior parts. Right now between the cold air intake and exhaust, I have around 240 HP. I still have a few new toys on the way in the car (chips, port polishing, valve springs, other things) before the turbo is going in.

I am also in contact with guys who have turboed the 3.4 engine. One guy who has a car identical to mine (year, color, model, engine) used one from the 2.8 MR2. He pulled his though cause he didn't think he was getting enough HP. That and cause he switched over to a manual tranny and the turbo wasn't working well with it. He said it ran better on the automatic, and offered it to me.

Here are the current things going into (or currently in) my car:
MotoRad Fail-Safe 180 Thermostat
3.4 DOHC Basic Head Porting with Core On Heads
Lower Intake Port with Core on Lower Intake
Valve Spring Shims
Decking and Valve Job
Performance Chip
Hayden Transmission Cooler
Hayden Engine Cooler
FFP Under Drive Pulley
FFP Billet Motor Mount Poly Dogbone
Magnaflow Highflow Catalytic Converter with 2.5 inch pipe upgrade
Dynomax Super Turbo mufflers
Custom CAI with K&N Filter

HAHA guys, OMG sweet! I got this card today from the shop, its called Nissan/Mazda heaven right? There are like 6 shops this guy owns, GM Heaven, Chevy/Ford Heaven, Toyota Heaven, etc. Well I picked up the GM Heaven (since I got a GM car) and I was searching the website that links all there databases together. Get this:

The turbo charger I bought? Was worth $242[/i] in there database. The guy didn't look it up, he just said he'd give it to me for $100.
I can't think of anything to put here right now.
