Oh my how the tides have turned. Can't refer to AMD as the underdog anymore [http://forums.massassi.net/html/wink.gif] Congrats, I always love when the little guy topples the big guy (even though I don't buy AMD chips anymore). Been a long time coming.

Meh, don't feel bad. Even Intel fans would love to see AMD get ahead, cause that means cheaper prices.

Here's another good article by the same guy about the AMD/Intel situation.

That article is a little silly. Let's start looking at the sizes of the companies, the money they have in the bank, shareholder value, etc. AMD (I'm guessing...) is much smaller, so they have much less working capital.

As for his "Linux will never beat Microsoft" statement, I think he's got tunnel vision. Plenty of small companies have toppled huge corporations, and plenty of huge corporations have toppled themselves. The only certainty in life is that nothing is certain.

I don't expect it to topple, but it'll fall under its own weight eventually.

I used to believe that we must fight the future, lest change come without our consent. I was wrong. The truth is that we must embrace the future, for only with change can we remain the same.
And when the moment is right, I'm gonna fly a kite.

I thought AMD was always kicking Intel's *** for the longest. Did I miss something?

I've been an AMD man since 1998 but now I sport a P4. When 64-bit processors become the norm, I'll bother taking another look into AMD.

They can sell as much as they want, they still can't encode worth a flip compared to a P4.

The thing is, the trends that the majority of internet users follow isn't the same as the rest of the world.

I would say the majority of businesses use Intel because 1) it's familiar 2) it has some pretty heavy marketing. I've never seen an AMD advert on tv, I only know about AMD through recommendations of other people.

Whilst most people on internet communities would seem to be buying AMD, we represent a tiny minority of computer users.
