Saw a picture on the front page of a newspaper - streets were literally covered with blood.

Why don't these guys just kill themselves and leave everyone else alone? :(

It looks like suicide bombings have become an established part of the culture over there. And that's a pretty sad thing.

Because we didn't.

That isn't the point. They aren't bombing us, they are bombing Iraqis. And last time I checked, they have been in Iraq for a while, minding their own buisness. Nice way of not reading the story.

They were blowing each other up before we went in there.

Perhaps jumping to a conclusion has been occurred?

"At the time of the Erbil attack, more than 300 people were at a recruitment center to apply for police jobs that had been widely advertised"

Nowhere in the article did it say that the groups involved were laying dormant before the attack. Nor did it say that they were active during Saddam's regime. They are indirectly attacking Americans, making our job much more difficult and much more expensive.

They're bombing "you" because those iraqis are on your side.

There's been violence in the middle east for a long while now, but there weren't frequent bombings that killed 500 people every week. Don't kid yourself - this is happening as a consequence of the American invasion.

There were never any suicide bombings in Iraq under Saddam Hussein.

Really now? Who ever said they were on a side other than their own. They are policemen; they try to keep order. What do you expect them to do, revolt againt the occupation?

Things aren't binary, just because they aren't actively resisting don't mean they are flag waving, hamburger eating, beer drinking Americans.

Don't **** in my mouth and call it a sundae. Who are the police organized by? Either American forces or the provisional government. Who is the provisional government organized by? The Americans, and based off of an American system.

Oh god, cry more, please.

1) The police system has been around since before anyone in the 'civilized' world knew what the hell an America was.

2) The provisional government is actually quite a bit different than our own.

3) These guys don't have to be allied with America just to want to keep order.

So I'm neither ****ting in your mouth, nor calling said '****' a sundae. If you would kindly make an actual argument, then we'd all be better off.

You guys are pathetic, you can't stop arguing. Debate was not the point of this thread, it was to inform you about these soldiers being killed in Iraq.

Personally I feel quite sad for the soldiers, and the families of the soldiers, but I guess I can't feel total emotion, for I have not experianced the sorrow personally...

:(

I feel sorry for the families too, it'd be awful to wake up and find out your brother/mother/whoever is dead :(

The soldiers joined the army of their own free will. They knew that there was a decent chance that they'd die. That's what soldiers do. You should never pity a soldier.
The death of invading soldiers who joined the army because they wanted to is not a tragedy- the deaths of tens of thousands of innocent civilians that didn't ask to be invaded, that is a tragedy.
