This movie really wasn't that bad. The effects/story were pretty good, but it DID have it's downfalls... which is as follows.

1. Terrible acting!! (paris hilton is one of many bad actors in this film)

2. Bad screenwriting... (particularly the dialog)

3. STUPID STUPID charactors... Example: Paris Hilton is getting stabbed through the floor, so what does she do? runs downstairs to escape!! I guess it's not that the charactors were stupid, they just wanted it to be realistic to what the real actress would do... hmmmm

4. Dumb attempts at scares that fail.

5. These charactors are WAY too nosey and distructive!

6. The whole building being made out of wax was kind of unrealistic.. I mean what would they do if they got a heat wave..... but it did make for a pretty cool scene at the end.

All in all though, it was alright, no MAJOR complaints... from time to time they even added some "realistic" touches to certain scenes.

not always, you can tell that the story is good... it was just done poorly... you have to look past that... even if you don't it's the best horror movie for a while.. (not saying a whole lot though)

Bleh, I'm not much of a horror movie guy. I'm going to check out Kingdom of Heaven tonight. (Which critics are saying sucks hard but users are saying it rocks hard) Maybe I'll check out House of Wax if I have some time next week. It did seem like an interesting story, but my hate for Paris Hilton *shakes fist*

anyway, it reminds me of this Lovecraft story i read once. i think it had a similar title.

I saw it last night as well. Yeah, it had it's faults, but overall it was a pretty decent movie. The wax melting off the people at the end reminded me of that one Indiana Jones movie.
