Yeah, HaloCE is not supported by neither bugie nor Microsoft.

Also, UT games get old fast, its the same thing over and over and over and over... Halo is more like JK in retrospect of how things can be created from nothing, I believe in time, like jk, entire new gameplay ideas will surface... as for UT, basically all it gets is mutators and levels. No new gametypes... sometimes you get lucky and get a modded gametype thats just barely worth playing.

edit: hahah bugie.. that totally wasnt intentional... oh well... Bungie*

I've only had the pleasure of playing the Halo PC demo and I must say, I hate it with a passion.

It is impossible to find a half decent game since owners of the demo can't change game settings. Thus you have idiots running around in the Banshee for the entire game doing nothing other than running people over. Yes, running people over. As in they just cruse along the ground. Nice. Real nice. Not to mention the endless idiocy of teamkilling I see in every game I've attended. I've literally joined a game before, and been shot down, meleed, shot at, or just plain DEAD within 10 seconds of joining. For God's sake, I'm the SAME color you are, the opposing team does NOT spawn at this base, and I have a green triangle over my head clearly indicating I'm on YOUR SIDE. WTF is wrong with these people? Hell, two nights ago, I got fed up and left a game because some arrogant freak spent the last 5 minutes of two CTF games trying to boost his kill count just so he'd appear as number one on the score board and brag about it. He got half of them by killing his own team.

Games like these piss me off. Mainly becuase I don't have any of the uber-leet skills necessary to kick their *** back. However, when I find I good game (which has happened, oh, 3 times out of the 40 some I've played) I could care less if I die. It's irritating, but nearly as much as when its done by some idiot. I have more fun getting my *** owned on XBox when the player is sitting right next to me.

In short, I bet Halo PC can be fun if you can at least swap out settings, but as of right now, I've lost further interest in picking it up for PC because of idiocy. I'll wait until the XBox comes down in price a tad more and grab one of those, another controller, and Halo for it.

Meh...whatever. I don't think Halo has NEARLY the possibility for modding that JK ever did/does/will. Mainly--most of the fans are "OMG I GOT TEH X-BOX AND HALO IS TEH COOL IT R BETTER THAN ALL" gamers, the kind that when you ask them how to program, say "OMG TEH MATRIX?!" Yah. Sucks, but it's true. JK had a largely computer competent following, IMO.

The Halo obsessed people really annoy me. Of course most of them are people who've never tasted a real PC FPS. It's a decent game, yeah, but it's no Half-Life.

Of course it does piss me off that they did such a poor port job that it has bad framerates on my PC, when I can play games like BF:V at full detail 1280x960 that look tons better and run smooth as silk.

There are two levels of obsession. One is the people who are simple obsessed with the game as a shooter. Those people are insane. The other level is people who are impressed with the style of gameplay and the story. A story I think a lot of people don't totally get becuase they don't understand all of the intracasies and references to other Bungie games, or the subtle references and connections to the Marathon Trilogy.

I fall into the second level. I just don't obsess over it as much as some people.

The demo bugged me for that reason,
changing the game types is a huge feature and I simlpy don't understand why they left it out.
in the retail version I have found it really easy to find good classic servers (w/o new vehicles & weapons) with good people who know how to play and are quite good.

And if you "borrow" it from "friends", you won't be able to play on most public servers because the key will have already been used, and if you use a special "tool to find a key" it won't give you a valid online certified key, and you will not be able to play on some public servers.

half-life and halo have alot in common... they both aren't nearly as good as alot of people try to say they are

Half-Life is good but its not "omg greatest game evar" (note: I used to hate the game... now i like it a little... maybe it was because i got too frustrated with xen that i got angry at the entire game)

Yeah, no co-op sucks, it'll be awhile before we see anything of that nature,
right now most of us can't even map for it cause it requires 3dsmax 5 and anyone with 3,4&6 can't use the plugin thingy.

Whats stupid about co-op is they say "we cant work in the splitscreen"... no one wants split screen on PC co-op.. and if they have that much trouble reverting it from split screen xbox version, why not just remake the levels for MP, put in some scripts for synced AI and where the guys get tougher for each player that joins. I dont see how thats so hard to be honest.

You miss read them, they said it would be easy to implement split screen but of course no one wants split screen on PC.
on the Xbox there is absolutly no networking code for the co-op since it's just two cameras in one game, the MP netcode is bad enough, it would be quite a task to get all the AI, scripts and events synched exactaly.
They can't just port co-op, they have to build it from scratch.

Well, I cant really say anything like "how hard can it be" because i know nothing about it, but id assume for a company that does such work, that it shouldnt be so hard they cant do it.
