Today is 5/7/5... The only haiku day we see every 1,000 years. Celebrate.

I like halkus much.
They are so easy to write.
But they're not poems.

A haiku is actually
A poem
With seventeen syllables

Why would I do that?
Do you think I should please you?
Is that what you want?

This is a haiku
Seventeen syllables long
It doesn't rhyme though

My sharp kimono
Makes me like a new Spring god
Unattainable

(had to put in the last one, even though it's more of an inside joke...)
"Ford, you're turning into a penguin. Stop it."

Build New, Clear mirror—
Broken old shards shimmer, seared—
Sweep glass into past—

Build peace, fateful gate—
Grand gravestones dancing, dying —
Fancy marble falls—

Hear hiroshima—
Silent voices sing, screaming—
Bare enduring ear—

See nagasaki—
Life radiates, dissipates—
Open one dry eye—

Build dreadful temple—
Old soldier singing, stockpiling—
Cover profane remains—

Build a tall wide wall
For the fallen Forgotten
Wield discreet concrete.

—Steve Hengeli

Oh and:

Something vacuous,
Devoid of any meaning,
Worthless poetry.

I like Massassi
but it eats up lotsa time
maybe I'm a nerd.

Maybe if I tried
I could speak like this daily
And piss people off.

In haikus I speak
But people don't understand
So they think I'm wise.

The month and date are switched in Europe.

A haiku is most often seen in the form 5 - 7 - 5 but it's very flexible.

Speak in this strange way?
