I fire up my sister's laptop to see what's out there in the way of wireless internet, and I picked up free internet access from a nearby hotel..

Well lah-de-dah for the church. Bust seriously, I wanna kill that hotel.

At my mom's house, you can connect to the neighbors wireless net at close to that. It's nice to use on the odd occasion when her dialup just isn't cutting it.

I can find about 10 wireless networks without leaving my dorm room. Most of them are encrypted though, but not all of them.

we have 4 you can get through on my floor. most of them are open.
I can also pcik up wireless connections in my bedroom at home.

That's pretty cool. A couple of people have wireless here at my house so it's pretty easy to get in most of the house.

You know, sometime last decade when me and my friend were having a lan using coaxial cables. We were joking about when wireless networking came in and we'd go around in a car with a couple of laptops, finding Quake games running on people's lans, jump in, frag them all and leave.

We didn't think that one day technology would actually allow that to happen. We kind of assumed someone along the way would be a bright little monkey and put an end to that.

Of course, now that it's here we can't be bothered driving around in a car with a couple of laptops and a port-scanner looking for games on 27015 or whatever quake used.

Wardriving\walking is great fun. It's amazing how stupid people can be when it comes to wireless internet.

You guys COULD be real ace and let the owners of such networks know, of course.

I mean hell, it can't even be that hard to show them how to fix the problem.
