Harg.

Really though, that game seems pretty neat.

And, I'll probably get a DS anyways.

I've played it, it's decent fun...but eventually you realize it's just a novelty. The thing that'll push me to want one is Age of Empires...with a touch screen. If microsoft puts all their creativity into it, they could make that title a system seller.

What they need also is some decent FPS's with some good MP. I mean, even a Gameboy Advance can pull off some decent FPS action (Serious Sam for GBA ROCKS!).

Actually, it's the only pride I can get on the internet.

Nobody wants to be my friend.

I only get my ****s and giggles from telling other people they are slow.

This is true. I've just taken to ignoring almost everything Rob and Bill say.

I never saw the point of handhelds.... Then again, when I'm on the go and want entertainment, I'm TOTALLY happy with tetris or breakout. A friend of mine who has a PSP let me fool around with it the other day. Now, aisde from the fact that I hated the control setup because it hurt my hands, and the fact that most of his games seemed a tad on the boring side, and that the UMD eject thing seemed rather violent (that's a minor complaint though)... The display was ****ing fantastic. Seriously, I could not stopp oggling at it and lusting for a bigger one. And their dashboard (for lack of a better term since all I know is Xbox) was drop dead SEXY.

So yeah, I'll probably never buy a handheld since I don't see the point, but the PSP really impressed me with the display and it's dashboard.

According to the article, Majesco will be publishing this "historical" turn-based strategy game in the fourth quarter of this year. Features mentioned in the article include five civilizations to control, 15 types of buildings to construct, and 50 unique unit types to command. There's also the promise of wireless multiplayer for up to four player competitions. -Random google search for Nintendo DS AOE.

Turn based? Being a fan of Age of Empires... am I missing something, or do they have their facts wrong?[

I'm not "impressed" by it. I just find it to be a great boredom killer when I'm on the go. I don't need much more than that.

And I did try Lumines. It was alright... Took ALOT of getting used to, but in the end, the control setup killed it for me. I simply cannot use the PSP controls without my hands cramping up.

No matter how crappy they may be, I still think the DS has the worst control setup. The shoulder buttons are too small, and too close to the rest of the buttons. I'd rather not play on a building block, thanks.

And yet I still do.

Not all hands are created equal. I also can't use the GameCube controller OR the PS2 controller for the same reasons. My hands cramp up. In addition to that, I find that there's hardly ANYTHING to hold onto, and I dislike the button placement.

Xbox Controller-S all the way.

You have some WHACK hands!

Gamecube's controller has won many awards for the most comfortable controller. I absolutely love it.

I do agree though, the PS2 has bad controllers. Especially the sticks. Incredibly loose, gives you no control whatsoever.

I couldn't stand the Gamecube. I love the Controller-S. Mainly because it just feels natural to hold. It's not like I'm having to do alot of conforming to it, everything is just right THERE. I like that.

No matter how odd-looking it was, the N64 controller is still one of my favorites.

As for the DS, while I don't own one, I wish I did. Playing Super Mario 64 DS and WarioWare Touched alone looks like oodles of fun.

I remember this game being posted before, and how someone here just could not understand how someone could not own a dog and was creating all these crazy situations like moving, etc so you did not have to buy this game and own a real dog.

Gamecube's controller is just a pain to use. I hate it. But to each his own.

PS*'s controllers are FINE. The sticks are fine too. Of course, it's all in the eyes of the beholder. Some beholders are just retarded... ;)

Every controller ever created for a console has worked flawlessly for me. I guess I just have "universal" hands.

Me too, though I find the Wavebird for the GC a little bit more comfortable than the wired controllers.

Same for me. I don't like the PS2 controllers, but that's jsut me, i guess. i never got the hang of the whole 'Triangle' and 'square',etc button labeling. i find letters much easier. the controllers always felt fine to me, i jsut don't like the labelling.

I partially overcame that while playing with the PSP when I realized that the buttons I was pressing to do certain things were roughly the same as they would be on the Xbox. After that I stopped worrying about the silly shapes and just went by feel. It worked pretty well.

I discovered last week with my gimp Controller-S (read: third party controller, 3 years old, buttons don't work to well anymore, vibrators are shot, thumbsticks VERY loose) that yanking the sensitivity in game down a bit kinda helped counteract how loose the thumbsticks were. KINDA. It still felt wonky, but it wasn't as much of a pain to use.

It's actually kinda funny... I always ask my friends which controller they want (barring the clear blue one, because that is MINE) and someone ALWAYS voluntarily takes the gimp one. Usually it's a friend of mine who snipes. He says the looseness helps alot, but after trying it, I can't see how. I was all over the freaking place.

It's like the PS2 controller was created for kindergarteners. Push the triangle button.

What is wrong with just using letters for god's sake?

When you press the button, it still does something. Does it matter about the labelling?

I find the N64 analogue sticks too dainty - I feel like I'm going ot break them, but that's my only real complaint. I'm fine with anything really, but must admit I would take PS2 controllers over any other. And no, I really couldn't care less whether the buttons have triangles, squares, letters or numbers. It matters not.
2005-05-11, 4:36 AM #39
Yes! N64 controllers are my least favorite. They make no sense. The fact that most games don't use the D-pad pisses me off, espescially SSB. I can't turn worth crap with that joystick.

The only cool thing about the N64 controller was that the Z trigger was well-placed. Other than that, it fits well in my large hands, but the stick is terrible. They'd get all chewed up and would stop working properly after a while. You'd have to open them up and clean out the ground-up plastic "dust," and then the stick would be loose as hell afterwards. Garbage.

The Gamecube controller sucks. My hands are too big for that thing, and none of the buttons fall at confortable places for me.

The PSX/PS2 controllers are by far my favourite. My only gripe is that I wish that the hand-grips on each side were a little bigger, like on my Logitech Rumblepad 2.

The X-Box controller (original) aren't very conformtable, although I don't have any complaints about the newer ones.
