This guy is working on a half life role playing game.

It looks like a lot of fun, though very unbalanced at the moment.

someone made the same thing based off of doom, but it was pretty good.

Carmarks working on one himself for cellphones. I believe its text based too. Even though phones are capable of using the Doom engine.

http://chaos.magma-net.pl/doom/ Here's the Doom Roguelike. The gameplay is fairly shallow, but it's very well made. The controls are simplistic compared to other roguelikes, so you won't be looking up the keys constantly. The best part is that you can actually aim your gun at any angle! In NetHack you can only fire things in eight directions.
