Is it still around? I just wanted to read what was on it.
2005-05-14, 1:13 AM #2
There was a board for it?
Pissed Off?

I think the threads were restored to the Discussion Forum after it was closed.

Yeah, because there were like 1 million threads for it.

And they couldn't have been FGR--you couldn't merge threads or anything like that back then.

So it's probably still around, just locked.

I remember that the DVD discussion board was on these new forums... so if they were on the old one, they weren't imported (none of the not-on-the-main-page forums were imported), so the threads are all gone.

I'm about 90% sure they were not on the new forums, considering they were only around when the new DVDs came out which was a while before these forums.

Oh yes, it was really useful. All the annoying religious threads were there, nowadays... well, not.

I had never before seen a more concentration collection of utter hate and contempt for each other's opinions.

But anyhow, I remember the SWDVD board was on the new forums, because those threads really started to pop up when the DVD's were released, that being somewhere around the end of September, and the forum update was in the beginning of September.

According to some IRC logs, this thread was on the SW DVD forum, and somehow Ober's reaction implies me the DVD forum was opened around 22nd September.

It's probably still there, though closed. Probably admins-only or something.

Like the SWG Forum. Those bastards.

heh. I think they closed FoJ because someone was reloading a certain thread over and over to raise the view number high.

WHAT THE HELL, SO IT WAS TRUE!!!!

HE CHANGED THE ENDING TO ROTJ!!!! WTF!!!!!

Seriously, that is like a sacriledge, any way to view the old ending?

That really bothers me (that and Fett). Inane, unneeded changes. WHY? I know they discuss why, but hot damn, that's as gay as replacing him with a naked Richard Simmons.

One of my friends told me this. I thought it was a lie; that couldn't be true. I was in denial, yes, because... just... whyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy

The DVD discussion forum was on the new forums. It was created because we had about 20 different threads about the dvds, none of which were particularly unique. After the dvd forum was closed, all of its threads were moved to the discussion forum.

The Forum of ****** was originally closed because it was breeding elitism among those who knew of its existance. It was reopened for a short amount of time, but its original creator asked me to close it for good.

I reckon we'll get a completely unaltered release at some point of the movies, so whatever bothers me about the current release are the things that have gone unfixed. For instance the lightsaber effects in the first film. They look great in the duel, but when Luke practices with the remote and when he first receives it on Tatooine it changes colour from green to white to blue, and just generally looks crap. Of course it was always like this in the movie, but it's just a strange error to go unfixed when such time and effort was spent on much less important changes.
