Nice...but fake...but nice.

EDIT: Are there any Nintendo 64 fanboys that know what the music at 2:13 in the movie is? It sounds awfully familiar. Super Mario 64 perhaps?

Someone took a LOT of time faking that.

Somebody must have a load of time on their hands. I thought the first part when they went throuhg all their old systems was the best part.

[BAH! Ober deleted a post.]

Because it's quite unlikelly that they wouldn't have made an official announcement about it, rather than leak some random video to the internet. Not to mention, you'd see FAR more coverage on it from gaming news sites that can prove it's legitimacy.

And I'm sorry, a headgear simulation sort of thing isn't a good idea, in my opinion. Number one, you're going to be FAIRLY disoriented. Number 2, some of us can't turn our necks, IE Me. Number 3, some of us can't walk, IE Me. Lastly, There isn't VR capable of REALLY creating a sense of VR. The closest we've gotten is crappy visual detection software. Not until we can hook it up directly to our brain and control it without moving will it trully be VERTUAL REALITY. Until then, it's a cheap motion detection game that is going to be more than likelly all too buggy to be worth a lick.

The Super Mario 64 OC Remix called "The Alternate Route" is a remix of that song, but I've got no idea what the original is called =/

I'd be interested to know if the last theme was also taken fomr somewhere or composed for the video.

Edit: OCRemix says The Alternate Route is a remix of Koopa's Road from SM64.

The 2:13 song is indeed from Super Mario 64, and it is from one of the bowser levels right before you fight him. I believe it is the last one, although it might be the same music for all 3, it's been a while.

I wish it were real.

And it cuts off at the end :(
Does anyone know where the mario footage at the end came from?

Your post makes me mad.

Because:

-PS3 isn't out yet; don't know the REAL games for it or the REAL specs.
-This isn't the real Nintendo next-gen, should be obvious, thus is not reasonable to make assumptions based on it.
-No one even asked about the PS3.

Next thread, about any game system, I'll go ahead and post "I like system X better". It gets annoying, because it is. No one cares, and no one asks, but you will always get 500 of these on any one thread.

"Hey, I like this game for the PSP, it..."
"I'd still get a DS"

"Man, Xbox live is pretty fun, last night..."
"I'd still get a PS3"

Ad infinium.

I want to see what is revolutionary about this console. It has to be something AMAZING. I mean they've been so confident and secretive about this, I mean Nintendo has a card or two up their sleeves, I know it. Will they release info at E3?
Think while it's still legal.
2005-05-16, 5:19 PM #20
Well, from what I've heard, all they're gonna show is some game footage, but nothing of the actual console itself. :(

You know what's going to happen now, right?

Third party publishers will want games made for the Xbox360 and then have them ported to the PS3 for maximum MONEY GET! They'll laugh at Nintendo's new console and say it's just not powerful enough. They won't care in the least about how user friendly it is. They're going to want their money. If they have the resources, they MIGHT develop for the Revolution, because right now, it doesn't sound the least bit enticing.

I'm sad :(

Wow, that was completely retarded. By your reasoning, no one should've made games for the PS2, since it wasn't as powerful as the Gamecube or X-Box.

The Big N has yet to demonstrate what makes the Revolution so revolutionary. Now, since the Rev. won't be as powerful as the 360 or PS3, I'm betting it must be something really amazing. Nintendo wouldn't consciously make their console less powerful than the competition and bank the sucess of it on a cheesy gimmick.
2005-05-17, 11:27 AM #29
Aparrently, you can download all of the NES, SNES, and N64 games on your Revolution. And Super Smash Bros will be a launch title--with online capabilities.

Damn, that's awesome.

Except, you know, that all three consoles were somewhat comparable in specs. There's also the possibilty of a problem with the controller, which has not been unveiled yet so I won't say anything, other than it's possible. Good try, though, what with the use of retarded and all.

The back catalogue sounds very cool. I'm hoping it's relatively cheap, because I know I don't want to pay $20 for, say, the first Zelda again.

The Nintendo press conference sucked. And I am a Nintendo fan.

Sony's was by far the best, then Microsoft's, and then Nintendo.

Nintendo's highlights include Electroplankton and Nintendogs?!

Instead of Mario 128 we get Mario Party SEVEN (The most oversaturated genre for Nintendo - most the minigames suck), a DDR Mario (Wippee!), a soccer mario and a baseball mario.

I wish they had given us no Revolution details then what they did. Compared to PS3 and Xbox360, Nintendo just sucked. I'm getting tired of the whole "We have it, but we aren't going to reveal it"

That was painful to watch after watching Sony's and Microsoft. To watch them go on about Nintendogs for 5 minutes while PS3 has games like Killzone is just sad.

Nintendo damn well better have a revolutionary idea when they finally unveil Revolution. The described Electroplankton as this new 'genre' that will change gaming. No, there's already computer programs that do the same thing while not being called a game.

It's pathetic. Nintendo finally embraces online for DS and Revolution, but it pales in comparison now to PS3 and Xbox360. Nintendo needs to step up to the plate. If its true that the Revolution is only 2-3 times as powerful as the Gamecube while Xbox 360 is like 13 times as powerful as an Xbox and PS3 is 35 as powerful as a PS2 than Nintendo can kiss their *** goodbye.
2005-05-17, 12:20 PM #32
It's sad, I was looking forward for the new Nintendo platform.. they probably aren't saying anything because since the released of XBox and Sony's they are too embarrassed to come out and say what they have.
"Nulla tenaci invia est via"

My initial impressions of the Revolution was that it was pretty underwhelming. Then again, we don't actually known that much about it, so it could have some really amazing features Nintendo just hasn't announced yet.
I bet you think that's funny, don't you.

As sweet as that it, they're still a step behind. SSB for GAMECUBE should've been online. That can't be their "revolution". Nintendo must have some other ace up their sleeve.

Nintendo's Compact Console Will Turn The World Of Gaming On Its Side

New System will be Forward-Thinking, Yet Backward Compatible

LOS ANGELES, May 17, 2005 - Each generation of video game consoles builds on the past to set new standards for the future. As the company with the strongest heritage of innovation, Nintendo redefines expectations for all next-gen systems by employing a wide-ranging strategy to attract more kinds of gamers to more kinds of games. When Nintendo's new console, code-named Revolution, arrives in 2006, everyone will discover the meaning of All-Access Gaming.

"We will show the world what a next-gen system can be. Revolution marries the strongest heritage of innovation to the future of gaming," says Nintendo President Satoru Iwata. "With backward compatibility and the 'virtual console' concept, the stylish, compact body provides maximum gaming power. It will not only take home entertainment into another dimension by expanding the definition of video games, but it also will give you access to the great history of gaming."

Some of the system features that wowed the crowd at the Electronics Entertainment Expo (E3) in Los Angeles include:
The cool look: The new console boasts high-quality materials and a smart, compact design, approximately the size of three standard DVD cases stacked together. A variety of prototype colors are being showcased during E3. It will come with a silver stand that makes the system a welcome, artistic component of any multimedia setup, whether it's displayed vertically or horizontally.
Backward compatibility: The new console plays all games from the current Nintendo GameCubeTM generation. But there's more...
The secret weapon: The console also will have downloadable access to 20 years of fan-favorite titles originally released for Nintendo® 64, the Super Nintendo Entertainment System® (SNES) and even the Nintendo Entertainment System® (NES).
Easy expansion: A bay for an SD memory card will let players expand the internal flash memory.
Two disc formats, one slot: Instead of a tray, a single, innovative, self-loading media bay will play both 12-centimeter optical discs used for the new system as well as Nintendo GameCube discs. Owners will have the option of equipping a small, self-contained attachment to play movies and other DVD content.
The specs: The system boasts 512 megabytes of internal flash memory, wireless controllers, two USB 2.0 ports and built-in Wi-Fi access. A worldwide network of Nintendo players can gather to compete in a comfortable, inviting environment. Revolution's technological heart, a processing chip developed with IBM and code-named "Broadway," and a graphics chip set from ATI code-named "Hollywood," will deliver game experiences not previously possible.
The stars: Introduction of a number of new franchise properties will add to the world's richest stable of stars, including Mario, Zelda, Super Smash Bros., Donkey Kong and Metroid.
Wireless freedom: A number of Wi-Fi-enabled launch titles are in development that will employ Nintendo's newly announced wireless gaming service, Nintendo® Wi-Fi Connection. A worldwide network of Nintendo players can gather to compete in a comfortable, inviting environment.
Freedom of design: A dynamic development architecture equally accommodates both big-budget, high-profile game "masterpieces" as well as indie games conceived by individual developers equipped with only a big idea.

"Our next console proves small in size but big on ideas," says Reggie Fils-Aime, Nintendo of America's executive vice president of sales & marketing. "We're throwing open the doors of gaming to wider audiences, from casual players to hard-core gamers who live for the thrill of defeating an endless army of wireless opponents."

Nintendo's All-Access Gaming philosophy covers the spectrum. The next console fits anywhere. It brings together new games and old. It gives people worldwide access through wireless Wi-Fi connections. And it opens the world of video games - to everyone. Software for the new console will even attract people who don't consider themselves players. Adults, kids, men and women around the world will have access to the most popular video game characters, the best game franchises and the most engaging experiences yet developed - only with Nintendo.

I'm not sure if I'm big on the design, asthetics wise. I like the fact that it's very small, but that's also a bad thing. The console looks like some drive I would put in my PC or a cable modem. Remember though, this is my opinion so it's not exactly valid.

You call this a secret weapon? I can already do all of this all on a PC with emulators. Hell, I'll be able to do it soon with the PS3 or X-Box 360 because they will have hard drives. Some guy will find a way to convert emulators to play on those consoles like the same guy who's already working on a GBA emulator for PSP.

Nintendo is acting like its the only console with Wi-Fi. The other consoles do have Wi-Fi too you know. In terms of online gaming service, Nintendo is late as X-Box already started its Live! service. I wouldn't be surprised if Sony has something similar for the PS3 as well.

Oh well, I hope I can see what it's capable of with screenshots soon.

I bought 'Cube just for the new SSB, and it looks like I'll be doing the same with Revolution. Finally, an SSB with online play. SSBM should have had that.
