What the heck do they use for a power source?

They explain in the article. It's a fairly "simple" machine...aside from it being constructed with DNA and all.

Prey was good until they went all hollywood with the lets have these nanobots morphing into human form and stuff...

The ending was definately screaming "PLEASE MAKE THIS BOOK INTO ANOTHER CRAPPY MICHAEL CRICHTON MOVIE FULL OF FX BUT BARELY COMPARES TO THE NOVEL IN TERMS OF SUBSTANCE"
