Sim City 2000

Well, I recently dug up this gem and immiditaly went to work on a city.

Here I am, merrily bossing people around and silently muttering to myself about what I'll do if they don't listen. Microwave powering everything, people are happy, everybody is learneding, and generally everything is going well.

Until the Microwave missed. Sigh.

I guess post really evil things that have happened to you in SIM games? :X

EDIT: I just realized that people who haven't played the game wouldn't really understand what I said. One of the powerplants has a sat up orbiting the sun, and transmits concentrated beams of energy to a radar dish on the ground, and it provides huge amounts of power for the city. The beam missed, and smacked right into downtown. The fires were huge, and radiation was everywhere. Long story short, after the fires were put out, there was a dark smear in the middle of my city.

Mine? Firestorms, Tornados, hurricanes, floods, riots, more fires, a volcano, and an earthquake.

All at the same time.

The only really evil thing that has happened to my Sim City cities is running out of free space. That sucks big time, and leads to recession too easily.

eventually my entire city just became Launch Arcos, at that point I decided I had won the game.

SC2000 had the original charms, since I never played Classic. SC3000 was cooler because of the 3d-ness, and some of the news ticker lines were great. SC4 looks great, is a bugger to get a working city, but skimps on the funny.

Oh, memories. I remember when I didn't know how to play.
Hey, Blue? I'm loving the things you do. From the very first time, the fight you fight for will always be mine.

Heh, my sister did that. She leveled the entire playing area and built Launch Arcos (those were the big expensive ones, right?) on every tile.

We also had a big city with suburbs, different districts etc. called HIStory. Then, as Glyde experienced, the microwave missed. I think half the city burned down before we got everything under control again. Then, about a year later, a robot attacked. We could do nothing but watch as the superlaser in his eye made short work of our beautiful but ruined city.

Fortunatley, Superman came and destroyed the evil robot, and there were great celebrations on the streets of HIStory.

I've always wondered, wouldn't dispatching an air military help get rid of the UFO attack? I doubt it, but I've never tried.

Yeah- if you have an airbase, it repels the monster. I also think missile silos might get rid of it- but I can't remember.

Oh, I miss Sim City 2000.

Were the military air bases supposed to be underground or something? It always was just a runway and that was it.

I loved opening up my Sim City2000 levels on Sim Copter, get the apache, and blow up a nuclear power plant.. fun stuff there.

Whenever I fill up everything, and all the growth tops off.. I usually just destroy EVERYTHING untill theres nothing left...

Then start over....
2005-05-15, 5:06 PM #21
Oh, and I seem to be a bit rusty...

Er... Whenever I start a new city from scratch, I always end up having a deficit. In the budget window, no matter what I change I always lose money the next year. Property tax is at 20, and everything else is at 0. Any help? :x

probably because no one wants to live there with an outrageous property tax.. i usually keep mine on 7.

Anything over 7 pisses people off.

In Simcity 4, you can tax seperate industries.

What I usually do is put a HEAVY tax on dirty industry. Because they move in no matter what...

I cheated, I made a pre-made landscape, flat with one corner a huge waterfall, and a long river running straight though...

got to the stage where I just keep building Launch Arcos and then decided to stop and try again...

Have completed it without pre-made landscape, just a lot easier with free cheap energy from Hydro-electric that doesn't fail...

I could never get buildings to "grow" in Sim City 2000, despite having all the requirements there. I liked Sim City 4 a lot though. The original Sim City and Sim Tower are the only ones I was good at. Yoot Tower is pretty good too.
