While it might not be the best channel ever, it's nothing to be scoffed at. They're promoting technology and tech news. Sure, they have to make it appeal to the masses, but still. It's a good channel.

I really like the xplay show. They guys are annoying but they spend enough time so that I get a really good idea of how the game plays.

I'm a huge fan of TechTV and I hope that none of my favorites are getting the boot. Anyone here says anything else bad about TechTV gets a visit from me and a 12 foot network cable that I like to us use to strangle people with.

From what I know, TechTV and G4 are merging into one channel, which will keep the name G4. I've known about this for months. News at TechTV must be slow.

There was an article about it somewhere on G4's site. Let me see if I can find it.

TechTV and G4 are 2 only very slightly related channels...

G4 is "tv for gamers" (really insults gamers more than anything)
TechTV is a channel about new technology in general with ONE show about video games

Looks like they've made a forum for it at the G4 forums. http://forums.g4tv.com/categories.cfm?catid=48 I think you need to sign up at the forums before you can read them. It's free, but it's still annoying.

TechTV is a good channel, I like the majority of the shows they have. Anyone who actually thinks its a crappy channel should be shot.

If they really are fusing it with their gaming channel "G4"...then the network will be awful. G4 is an awful network, even if it is devoted to gaming fully.

I hope that the new hosts for all the shows don't suck....

During the summer I go up to place that has satelite. The best part about my summers is being to wake up late, watch Tech TV for a few hours, (or all day) and then edit JK. Wow. Only three weeks until summer break...

I had heard TechTV was sold to Comcast. But they're giving all the employees the boot, apparently. That sucks.

I really enjoyed stuff like Call for Help, The Screensavers, and XPlay (Morgan = hot! loolz!), and I hope they don't kill it off. I had heard they're merging it with G4, the (apparently horrible) all games channel or something. I dunno.

Realistically, most people will probably be hired back. They fired them all simply because they wanted to set up new contracts, and not an old contract they had with a previous compnay.

If the new channel is anything close to TechTV though, remains to be seen.

If they want to continue working for TechTV they'll have to relocate to L.A. I don't think a majority of the employees would want to do that.

Yeah, I just came back to edit that in... that is a big move for a lot of these people. Many who do tons of other side projects and have families and such.

TechTV was bought simply for it's real estate. It reached a lot of homes, and was kind of game related. It was the perfect target for Comcast. Now they're going to want to make more money... that's how corporations work... they don't try to keep quality up and keep things steady and profitable... they try to change things to get more people.

I don't see TechTV as it is now, ever reaching a ton of people. Now, a channel devoted to "OMG HALO 2!!!!!!111 it will BE TEH COOL GAME EVER!!!" or "PS3 IS COMMING OUT SOON!!!!1" will get a lot more viewers...

Does he host it on KFI, or does it just get rebroadcasted from there? A lot of shows are carried throughout the country on different stations.
