Cross your eyes!

Check this out

http://milked.free.fr/crossmodels/

Look at the images with the eyes cross and they appear in 3d. My favorite is the people, you can spin them around by moving your mouse and it's as if they are poping outta your screen!

Though now my eyes hurt.. like playing virtual boy too long.

Can't do it, haven't ever been able too.

This is how I used to do the magic eye puzzles. Yeah, these are freaking awesome. Does this work with any picture? How does the brain know that the paw goes in front and the furs on the cat stick out?!
Think while it's still legal.

It's just focusing on one of the images with your opposite eye. Get them aligned and they join.
Pissed Off?

No, it doesnt work with any picture. You need two cameras, or a special camera, so that the two images are from a slightly different perspective. The same difference in perspective between your two eyes is what allows you to see things in 3 dimensions normally.

I can't either but I think that has something to do with my slight color blindness...

And yes DSettahr is right.

Boco, try crossing your eyes, focus in the middle and maybe adjust how far away from the moniter you are. You don't want to be very close. I think the people are alot easier to focus on.

Also, its really creepy how some of the models eyes follow you as you spin the picture around in the flash ones.

Close, far, medium, I've tried a whole load of distances and I can't get the images to move very far any way. I can't cross my eyes....
nope.

I know that you believe you understand what you think I said, but I'm not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant.

That rocks! Just cross your eyes until the two images line up horizontally, then tilt your head until they line up verticaly. Then try to focus... Worked for me.

That's really neat, except I cannot get the animated ones to work, they show up as just a blank page. Anyone else having this problem?

I mastered it in a few minutes. Probably because my eye muscles are well trained from years of Magic Eye and playing with focus when I was bored at church.

I tried the same effect with my dual monitors in clone mode in video games and movies. It SORT of has a depth effect, but not really. You need two different images - wait, holy crap, I bet if I tilted my monitors away from the center point I could get a 3D image!!

A mod for Quake II that uses an effect much like a Magic Eye book.

i think the cat ones my fav... I can't do it with the animated ones, I can't focus in on them.

The ones with the white backgrounds are neat, I think the white makes it easier for me to go crosseyed and make the effect happen.

This is the opposite of Magic Eye images. With Magic Eye you let your eyes drift apart and un-focus, with this you move your eyes together (cross-eyed). If you use this technique with a Magic Eye image you will end up seeing the opposite if what you're supposed to - everything looks sorta stenciled in from a higher outside layer.

Wow, the human eye is [word]. But yeah, Sayjn, it's a combination of many parallel processes essentially analyzing visual stimuli and then making various generalizations which you are selectively conscious of, etc., etc., and basically is a blatant misrepresentation of reality.

Sorry. I didn't mean it that way. I guess I shouldn't have said that.

Dude. That is pretty cool.
For those of you who can't get it, try the things above:
Find a good distance from the monitor (move your head back and forth. You should be seeing three pictures, actually, one 3d in the middle and one on either side.)
I like it. I expected it to be harder, but I got it in less than a minuite. Its pretty fun!

I can kind of do it, but it takes a while to focus.

Pretty neat. The flash one with two girls was a good one: It really showed even more 3d than the others, in my opinion. It's funny how, at least for me, when you look at the 2d images, you don't necessarily actively think they are very small images of humans, but when you look at them in 3d, you are much more aware of that they look like miniatures, minuscule statues...

Stereograms are cool! I used to play around with such things a lot. I made a picture of the Star Wars text scrolling back. It worked pretty good, but was too long, so when you focused on the bottom words, the top words were no longer in alignment.

My digital camera has a built in feature that will do this, though it doesn't work very well. Maybe I'll play around with it tonight, and post some stuff.
