...your music on your hard drive?

Mine looks like this:

D:\Music\Classic Rock\Genesis\Turn It On Again - The Hits (2000)\16 - Misunderstanding.mp3

or

D:\Music\Rock\Alice In Chains\Dirt (Limited Edition) (1992)\Disc 1\05 - Rooster.mp3

I don't particularly like the folder system. I like all the important information to be in the actual mp3 filename, so if I move it out of the folder I know exactly what it is.
I'm rarely too bothered about album names, so I just have Artist - Song.mp3.
V:\Rammstein\Rammstein - Moskau.mp3

I also hate it when spaces are replaced with underscores.

Yeah, I can't stand underscores either. But I usually just have a big folder called mp3s and I have all my important music in that folder. I didn't find a big need to organize it as I usually rename my mp3s in this format:

Artist - Song Name

So everything is listed alphabetically and I can spot the artist like I can the folder, although now my songlist is building up and i'm considering using artist folders.

E:\Music\Band Name\Album Name\Band Name - Album Name - Track Number - Song title.mp3

e.g.

E:\Music\A Perfect Circle\Thirteenth Step\A Perfect Circle - Thirteenth Step - 01 - The Package.mp3

I like to keep the track number in the file name so that they get ordered properly when imported into winamp.

I generally save 'em as...

C:\Blah\Final Fantasy 7\FFVII - 304 - Descendant of the Shinobi.mp3

or

\Unreal Tournament\UT - Mechanism Eight.mp3

All my media is stored on my file server and mounted on my workstations on /data via NFS. Songs are stored first by genre, then by artist, then the track name.

An example file;
Code:
/data/audio/Classic Rock/Led Zeppelin/Led Zeppelin - Since I've been loving you.mp3

Video is stored similarly...

Code:
/data/video/cat/Family Guy/Family Guy - 401 - North by North Quahog.avi

Like this:

You can also see that I have a "Unnamed Music" folder, which is where my music waits to be properly tagged. Since I'm so lazy, a lot of the music in there has been there for over a year. :o

I've told iTunes to sort my music for me. I never go into the actual folder.

Mine's just C:\music\artist\

I don't really care about what album, unless different variations of the same song are on different albums.

/fat32/music/music/[bandname]/[album]/[songs]

I use /fat32/music for non-music files. Sort of a weird system, I suppose. fat32 is my Windows partition, which I never use, except as storage space.

C:\Music\Artist\Album (Year)\Track Number - Track.format

for example

C:\Music\Jean-Michel Jarre\Equinoxe (1978)\04 - Equinoxe Part IV.mp3

That only happens if I have many tracks of the artist/band, otherwise I'll throw them in the same folder by Author - Name.format or by their original name.

D:\Media\Music

they start off in:

\Miscellaneous

where I have a big collection of correctly tagged random music.

when I have at least one album or a sufficient number of tracks for an artist they get moved to:

\Artists\[Artist Name]

with individual tracks going in the root of the folder and albums getting subdirectories, eg:

\Artists\[Artist Name]\[Album Name]\

Standalone songs are named as:

[Artist Name] - [Song Name]

Whilst songs that are part of full albums get:

[Track Number] - [Song Name]

Songs from compilation albums don't get album folders, they get shoved in Miscellaneous or the relevant Artist folder.

Ditto. And as far as I'm concerned, it does a damned fine job of it.

Majority of my mp3s are from anime so I just organize it into folders with the anime's name and anything non-anime goes in a "misc" folder.

Mine are completely unorganized

A lot of it is in D:/music, some are in my "Pommy's stuff" folder, some are in random folders just lying around. Winamp unites all of them, though, so I don't bother moving them around.

Desktop:

C:\Audio\Artist\Album\01 Track1.m4a

Laptop:

C:\Mystuff\Music\Artist\Album\01 Track1.m4a

I just got iTunes to organise my music on the desktop, (it's never been done and I can't be bothered to do it all mysief) although I use the same organisation on my laptop, I do it all by hand.
