So we LAN'ed all night long...

My buddies had organised a mega-LAN party at my old college this weekend. They were expecting 35-40 people, but they actually filled to capacity (60 people) and had to turn a few people away! The switches were completely saturated, and the place was completely filled.

My "clan" (for lack of a better word) participated in a 5 vs. 5 CS 1.6 tournament, and got our asses kicked really bad. :p 23-7 and 30-0. Like I said, really bad. What didn't help is that I had drank ~20oz of rum, so I wasn't really fit to be playing, even though sober I don't do that well anyways. One guy on our team (the LLL's - llama-loving losers) had never played CS (didn't even have a Steam account, he used my second one), and two others sucked worse than I did. We only had one decent player. :p

But it was a lot of fun, got a lot of MoH:AA and Serious Sam in, lots of CS and some CS:S, some BF1942 and even SoF.

Post your LAN-party experiences!

All the LANs I've been to were local affairs, with all of 6 people.
Hey, Blue? I'm loving the things you do. From the very first time, the fight you fight for will always be mine.

Normally I just go to LAN's with about 5-7 people, but every now and then I go to one titled The Big Crap Shoot. There is an official attendance cap of 80 people, but we normally get around 100. If you live within a couple of hours of it's location(Oshkosh, Wisconsin) I would definitely recommend it.

I guess you coud say I spent the weekend "LAN-ing." My friends parents were out of town so he stayed at my house all weekend and all we did was play AOE/EE, watch Star Wars movies, and eat pizza.

I know that you believe you understand what you think I said, but I'm not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant.

Me and my friend LANned at his house once with MOH: AA, we'd join the asme server and coordinate or attacks on the same team. It was great.

Wow, I haven't LANed in over 7 years! The last time I played in a LAN was back in my freshman year of HS where I played a few rounds of Duke Nukem 3D, Quake, and Doom II. How I miss those days :(

A group of friends and I from HS get together, about 6-10 of us. We play all sorts of stuff, starcraft, CoD, UT, etc.

I have played a lot of CS LAN.

I guess CS is the LAN standard, though.

In my house last year all four of the lads (apart from Ross) played CS on LAN a great deal. Perhaps my best memory was the time I pretended to be a bot when Dave and Craig were having a play on Assault (I think: is that the one with the big warehouse with the hostages upstairs?).

They were just shouting their tactics between their two rooms, and I could hear all their plans, and knew exactly how to cripple them every time with my trusty Steyr Aug! It was a bit like this...

Dave: "Craig, you watch the main door, I'll watch the back door - the bots never use the ceiling entrance, and when they do, they get stuck."

Craig: "Ok, but watch out for that one called Behatch, he's quite good - in the SAS kit."

Dave: "****! He's just headshotted me from somewhere!"

Craig "Where is he?!"

Dave: "......er..... hang on, he's-"

Craig: "Too late."

Eventually they got fed up and used the command that kicked all bots so that they could start without me, but obviously as a player that didn't work and they busted me. It was just so damn funny, they just kept shouting out their weak points and I exploited them every single time. The hardest bit was not laughing every time I got them to swear out of frustration!
