My purple toes...
2005-05-24, 12:10 AM #1
hmm.. sometimes when I am sitting around with no shoes on, I notice that my toes are turning purple.. and when I press on them with my finger they turn white for about 20 seconds before turning back to purple. I also notice that they are always cold.

I know this is most certianly from horrible blood circulation (i guess I never have to worry about getting bit by a poisonious spider or snake on the foot.. it will never get back to my heart... heh )

I am just inquiring as to how I should go about fixing this.. my brother says more aerobic excercise, but I've never heard of a lazy person having purple toes... (you think it would become a sterotype or something if it was THAT common)...

And I don't wanna hear any suggestions like "goto the doctor" cause I havn't had medical insurence since my dad kicked me out a little over 3 years ago...

If you are sitting for too long there is always a risk of blood clots which can be fatal. If you already have bad circulation you really need to take it seriously. GO TO A DOCTOR. Barring that, and I am not a doctor, excersing for 30 minutes a day will probably help a lot, as will getting up from your chair once every half hour or so. Just walk around for at least 5 minutes or something, it's worth it. Also, your back will thank you later.

That's about all we can give you. To my knowledge, none of us are med students. And truly, that's the best thing we can tell you.

I take it your getting "purple toes" from sitting. Are you sitting properly? No arteries/veins pinched? When your toes return to normal color you get the "needle" feeling afterwards?

which is more important to you; your money or your health? if it's a blood clot (which can often be fatal if not treated), do you value your money more than your life?

if you're smart, you'll see a doctor immediately. don't whine about "wah no insurance", that's your own damn fault. get this diagnosed and treated as soon as you possibly can.
Moo.

Do at least some excercise a day. Hell, I'm probably the laziest person on the Earth, but every weekday I get in about 40-80 minutes of pure walking, and my toes don't turn purple.

Those are pretty dangerous. People also get purple toes and fingers when they have frostbite - and that often ends in having to cut off those toes and fingers.
The music industry is a cruel and shallow money trench where thieves and pimps run free, and good men die like dogs. There's also a negative side.

I tend to get up and walk around instinctively quite often. Sometimes I do it without noticing until I'm in another room. I guess it's a good thing. :P
I'm just a little boy.

Not that u are asking my opinon, but it sounds like u are either sitting wrong, or something like that. Either way u should get it checked although u prob. wont. and who knows, u could just be cold, you all are always blasting the AC.

its' just best to get it checked out and take your big bro's advice about getting exercise, and see if that works, he seems pretty smart with the health stuff recently since he's been trained as an EMT

it's not like I moved into a large house simply to "brag" on a starwars gaming forum. I moved into a bigger house to accomidate new roommates, and for those of you who don't know how more roommates work, rent goes up, but more roommates mean cheaper rent.... cause it is split more ways.. i am currently paying LESS on my new, bigger house then I was before.... so that has nothing to do with it.

And I don't think it's just how I am sitting, cause it does it kinda often...

Read this:

go get it checked, seriously. we may argue a lot (mostly me being sensitive) but listen to this advice although it is coming from me, better safe then sorry. Doesnt mean I dont care as a friend, just cuz I get *****y from time to time. Exercise, quit all the eating out at McDonald's and all that. seriously u all need to start watching out for you all's health (referring to u and the guys,u should all make a group effort of it).

Start cooking lean meats at home, more salads (less Dressing). Just think,...it cuts out the creepy waiter at Golden Cooral (sp?) *pops up outta nowhere* "here's more soda!" :p No but seriously please dont be stubborn about this and be smart about your health
