3 sisters get knocked up, mother blames school
2005-05-25, 10:42 PM #1
And the worst part is, the youngest of the 3 sisters is only TWELVE.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/main.jhtml;sessionid=LGHHCCMV3DXS5QFIQMGCM5WAVCBQUJVC?xml=/news/2005/05/23/npreg23.xml&sSheet=/news/2005/05/23/ixhome.html

Whats sad is

1.) The 12 year old was the first to have a child.

2.) The 16 year old already had TWO miscarriages and an abortion and still got pregnant.

How this woman can not TEACH THESE KIDS sex education herself, and thinks the school is responsible for her kids learning sex education, when obvious the oldest seems to have plenty of experience astounds me and I wish someone would just shoot her.
I can't think of anything to put here right now.

She's a moron. Yes, the school might have done a better job with sex ed, but parents have a responsibility (more than the school, IMHO) in it as well. I'm sure the mother is a shining beacon of sexual behavior as well.

no contraception was used, so they pretty much brought it on themselves. They get no sympathy from me.

Plus, this is interesting:

Quote:

The Centre for Policy Studies think-tank said married couples on average weekly salaries were only £1 better off than single mothers who never worked and had no contact with the father of their children

so does this mean that these people on welfare get nearly the same as people that work? Now that's f***ed up, it's a big drain on society. I'm not sying that we shouldn't take care of the underpriviliged, but to pay benefits that are nearly equal to those people who work-- that's practically rewarding people for doing nothing. That's what I don't like about more socialist-oriented governements.

Arg, parents are getting so stupid these days. Don't these people realize that the more you rely on schools to raise the children rather than the parents, they are running the risk of giving government too much power over the minds of people? I know that sounds a bit like a crack-pot conspiracy but think about it...

In Scotland we start to get Sex Ed at 10.

But really, it's their own damn fault, the mother can't blame anyone but her daughters.
nope.
2005-05-26, 9:22 AM #17
Yes Echoman. At least in the States you start taking Health classes around 6th grade which cover Sex Ed a bit.

I was in 5th grade (Which is around.. 9 or 10) when our class had a sex education. I suppose most parents just don't feel confortable about telling talking to their kids about it. Then you have something like this and the lady is blaming the school/government...

All I know is, I haven't had got anyone pregnant and my parents never spoke to me about sex before.. and I learned it at a young age.

Why do people have a hard time blaming themselves for their own mistakes. Always looking to blame someone else...

I've been wondering that forever. And the answer is that blaming someone else makes it easier to split with the consequences. People these days are mostly reckless, irresponsible tards, and commonly lack maturity and awareness of something called re-al-i-ty.

First, why is the 12 year old girl having sex?
Uh... If she's pregnant, she's obviously doing someone much older, as men typically don't kick out anything strong enough for a decent swim until about 15 or 16... I'd say with the 12 year old, the problem doesn't likely exist in a lack of education... I'd say there's some pretty decent psychological issues that are far more important here...

14 year old kid doesn't think it could ever happen to them. Contraceptives generally don't work out for these ones unless you get the slightly smaller condoms - but the old saying goes... "What do you call people who use condoms as birth control? Parents."

16 year old girl... Uhm? Ever heard of a doctor? The Pill? There is quite a range of effective contraceptives that are just becoming effective. Realistically speaking if this has happened in the past, education likely isn't the issue - it's probably something else... Like parent expecting kids to be celebent and not allowing the purchase of contraceptives.

Here's an idea... How about you NOT sue the government for something that's your own fault - or even better how about you not expect the government to raise your kids.

I watched this on the news the other day (was also in the local paper). One of the girls actually said government should do more!

Okay then! I don't know about now but it wasn't that long since I was in school and sex education was covered in PSE and biology. It was even touched upon in some other subjects. Also most kids (almost all) know it's illigal to have sex with a kid under the age of 16. It's just the "cool" thing to sleep with somebody during high school nowadays. By heck, a young lass can even go to the doctors by herself and have a nice long chat about sex with the locl GP in confidence!

"We blame the government" my rear. I'm not a big fan of everything our government does but I think in this department they've done everything they can and then some.

Line them up and shoot them I say. Most of them only do it for the benefits anyway.

No, actually sexual maturity (or more specifically, reproductive maturity) is reached about this age, although it varies from person to person. Although actually having a child (or even just getting pregnant in itself) at this age may be dangerous both to the mother and the baby.

16 is the age of consent in England. And people from other countries can go there and not get arrested, unless you go to the embassy.

Ding - Ding - Ding. You just figured out the drain on America's economy, and the increasing dependence on the government's loans that is welfare.

insane. Absolutely insane. I can understand teh 16 year old, even the 14 somewhat...but someone my age? no. I find this astounding that not ONLY is the 12 year old talking like she's in love, she's blaming the government. I think the girl was just following what the media says. And I go to a private school so I don't have sex ed (I don't know why...we should I think) but at public they had it last year (5th grade) and they did it this year too. I also know, just based on me being a 12 year old in todays world, she knew about all that stuff without sex ed. I think I understand it well enough to abstain until the legal age. But this girl...she must just be messed up. I would almost like to see what kind of shape she's in, see how she's handling it physically and psychiologically.
I had a blog. It sucked.

This has little to do with society and more to do with parents not doing their job.

According to such logic, LETS JUST GET RID OF SEX ED.

You don't deserve to know what changes your body is going through! Or about your urges! YAY!

No.. really.

I'm certainly not for getting rid of sex ed, but I seriously doubt this has to do with the education process being done to early or too late. Putting the extemely young age aside, there's something pretty off about three adolescent siblings all getting pregnant without anything dawning on any of them about what might happen, as they watch it happen to other siblings. It's as if none of them cared if they got pregnant or that they did.

And after a couple of miscarraiges you'd think it would sink in.

But Rob, wouldn't you agree that should be the job of the parents? When did we start expecting the schools and the tv to raise our kids and stop doing it ourselves?

Anyway, that article just gets worse and worse as you read through it... *shudder

It's BOTH parties job.

Like your mom or dad can name the 37 or whatever parts that make up the penis, and how it works.

Mom + Dad = EXPLAIN SEX, and it's purpose
School = Elaborate, and reinforce the idea that SEX = BABY

It's RIDICULOUS to say that sex ed shouldn't be required in school because it's "the parents job."
2005-05-28, 12:12 AM #38
...who seriously wants to know what the 37 parts that make up the penis are called? eww.

I guess if you want to grow up and be a geinicologist (or the male genital equivilant) but that's not what we're talking about. We're talking about the role of guiding and perhaps enforcing our children to make a responsible decision. If you want to have a anatomy class then have an anatomy class. If you want to have a sex education class then have a sex education class. I just don't personally think that's the role of the school.

As far as my personal opinion, I think that any sex outside of marriage is wrong, "safe" or not. And, once I'm a parent, I'll do my best to guide my children to that conclusion. I don't need their school reinforcing that it's ok as long as proper protection is used and maturity is exercised.

I'm not saying I expect the schools to reinforce *my* beliefs on the matter, just that it's not their place to reinforce *any* beliefs on that subject, imo.

To me it could be compared to drinking alcohol. Some people might think it's ok if done responsibly (I fall into that catagory), and some people might think it shouldn't be done at all. Whatever theif belief they'll do their best to pass that on to their children. What right does the schools have to make that decision for them?
If you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice.

Lassev: I guess there was something captivating in savagery, because I liked it.
2005-05-28, 12:20 AM #39
and...

Either way, though, I think that in this case you'll agree that the mother is not doing her job to either encourage her children to not have sex, or to teach them to do so responsibly, whatever she beleives is best. Istead she's sitting on her hands and blaming everyone (and everything) else for her problems, which is exactly what her daughters seem to be doing as well if you read between the lines.
If you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice.

Lassev: I guess there was something captivating in savagery, because I liked it.
2005-05-28, 5:11 PM #40
Yeah, I agree.

But you shouldn't just take away sex ed.

Man, if you're going to take away Sex ed, might as well get rid of History. I mean, who the hell but some tight wad professor needs to know crap like that?
