The new Superman movie (picture inside)

Here is one of the first offical photos of the new Superman movie, of the actor in his costume.

Shouldn't he have some...muscle? They should have hired Toby Mcguire's physical trainer or something, or put a frigging muscle chest piece on under him.

When I looked at that photo, the first thing that came to mind was the old Kirk Alyn Superman serials.

I think that's exactly what Superman should look like. He was super strong, not a body builder.

Yeah, plus that rally is a lot of muscle on the guy. His shoulders are huge.

He doesnt have to be ripped on steroids, but they can still make a guy of his stature look muscular.

http://www.musclemania.com/magazine/mmedia_4-04_cover.jpg

That guy is muscular without being on steroids. Put a skin tight suit on him and it would show some of the muscle. Then again maybe I'm wrong, maybe this guy shirtless is buff and just can't tell.

I hate the small S though.

Here is a picture of "Clark Kent" and I gotta say, if you lined these 2 guys up next to each other, I wouldn't put 2 and 2 together.

I'm surprised they didn't "modernise" the costume a bit more, all they really did was make the red bits darker.

I wonder if there'll be any shots of Superman in front of a bluescreen?

AKPiggott, 2 things

1.) They didn't "modernize" it cause thats a legend and an icon, Superman is actually the most recognizeable "person" on this planet, with Jesus in second place. That's like making Batman's costume green. Batman has changed over the years from blue and grey to black and grey, but the costume in the movies still holds to the roots. They modernized X-Men cause, well, a guy running around in yellow spandex is funny looking.

2.) Wouldn't green screen work?

Superman has supernatural strength. He doesn't need large muscles.
I'm just a little boy.

I thought the reason he was so strong, is that his home planet had much higher gravity than Earth, so his mucles were super strong from having all the extra gravity working against them. When he came to earth, everything was lighter to it seems to us he is strong.

The bottom line is that he should have some bloody large muscles.

He's strong because the yellow sun gives him power.

Last I heard this was another sequel, not a remake.

I agree, he could do with some more muscle. In the comics he's definately more muscular than that. Otherwise, though, he makes a passable Superman.

I don't remember his boots/cape being so dark.
I know that you believe you understand what you think I said, but I'm not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant.

Well, that's just it - they've used a blue suit on him now so it's easier to digitally erase his current body and add a CG mega muscular body in post production ;).

That was the ORIGINAL origin. Superman when he first appeared had totally different powers.

1.) No flight. Could only leap 1/4 mile at a time.

2.) Could only withstand a mortar shell blast. Anything beyond that would hurt.

3.) No laser eyes, but he had mind reading powers.

They of course redid it to where the sun powered him.

Sol, he isn't running he is flying. ;)

Any ideas on who the bad guy is or what the movie is about? I wish it was the death of superman. Doomsday was a bad ***.
obviously you've never been able to harness the power of cleavage...

I'd point out that the Batman in the comic doesn't have that stupid rubber costume. Bruce Wayne is a master martial artist, he wouldn't use a costume that doesn't allow him to turn his head properly! That's stupid!

Well what he looks like depends on the artist.

Kevin Spacey is Lex Luthor.

hinch1, no, but he wears kevelar under his costume and under his mask. In fact his costume has all sorts of gadgets built into it, like gas into the mask to cause you to pass out (so if you try to remove the mask when he is unconscious), or electro shocks.

I actually like the darker red. Makes him look less rediculess.
