Can't say I'd have seen that coming... I actually liked him in EPII and III, as well as "Life as a House"...

Even so, I still think it's cool he might study architecture instead of continuing an acting career, good example of doing what you want to do, instead of doing something just for the fame or fortune... kind of gains some respect from me... and Im aware he's likely quite rich from the movies he has done so far (esp. EPII/III)

If you're too lazy to read the article, or just dont feel like going to the article (much like I am 9 times out of 10)

Hayden Christensen is set to quit acting to become an architect. The Star Wars actor says he plans to swap the big screen for building design - because the movie industry doesn't excite him anymore.

He told Britain's The Sun newspaper: "Maybe the new Star Wars will be my last movie. "I don't find Hollywood interesting, so I'm thinking about studying architecture instead."

With tuition fees being what they are, his acting stints in both II and III should pay for at least two semesters. Three if he's frugal.
Code to the left of him, code to the right of him, code in front of him compil'd and thundered. Programm'd at with shot and $SHELL. Boldly he typed and well. Into the jaws of C. Into the mouth of PERL. Debug'd the 0x258.

Way to stand up for your beliefs! That shows guts, in my opinion. He could go and make more money off movies, or become what he WANTS...and chose what he wants. Good choice, IMO. Even though I did like him in Ep. 3
I had a blog. It sucked.

No. Proabably more like the death star.

Hey, Blue? I'm loving the things you do. From the very first time, the fight you fight for will always be mine.

when he walks into a room all he has to say is 'i'm vader.' no one can say a thing. how do you say anything to counter that?
'well, i'm a doctor.', or 'well i'm a lawyer.'?
'who cares?', he'll say. 'i'm vader.'
you can't top that. who cares if he's been type cast. he's vader.

It'll be great if he becomes some head honcho, he can arrive to make sure everythings going on schedule, and "motivate" the workers.

I didn't much like him in Episode II or III, but he was great in Shattered Glass. Anyway, kudos to him for doing what he wants to do, and best of luck. One of my friends was in architecture school this year, and it's no picnic.

I'm surprised no one has seen this for what it truly is - he's going to be an architect so he can design the plans for the Death Star.

I just hope his buildings aren't as lack luster as his acting.

Maybe he can't find any more acting work because he sucks.
2005-05-27, 1:12 PM #18
Or maybe he just wants to become an architect instead of acting, seriously, lay off him.
nope.
2005-05-27, 1:23 PM #19
Wow, tough. I never thought someone wouldn't be interested in Hollywood. People would kill to be in hollywood, and here he is, leaving to become... an architect. Props to him.

Just out of curiosity, have you seen him in anything other than Star Wars?

Yes.

I can't remember the names of the films off the top of my head. It was a while ago.

He just never struck me as anything more than fairly average in terms of acting.

Fair enough. As I mentioned before, I thought he did quite well in Shattered Glass, but acting style, like many things, is ultimately in the eye of the beholder.

I can't say I'm too impressed with him either... But then I don't remember him in anything other than Star Wars.
If you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice.

Hey now. Blame lucas, not Christensen. He had to say that line. And really, there isn't an actor on the planet that could make that line sound good.

Anyway, i think he was pretty good in EP I and II. Obviously the diologue was bad, but that was Lucas' fault. Given what he had to work with, i think he did a good job. And i thought EP III was great. Of cource, the "NOOOOOO!" could have been much better, but there's no telling if that was lucas or Christensen's fault, and otehr then that i thought he was awesome.

But, back to the real topic, i think that its great for him to have the will poer to do this, he has a choice of making tons of money acting, or doing architecture, which will take him several years of major effort to become good in. So props to him, and that jab at Bloom was great. Damn pretty boy.

i know it was JEJ with the voice, but that whole bit i found sort of weak. it was Christensen in the suit.

I remember he looked odd and clumsy when he first stumbled out of that operating table thing with the restraints, but them I remembered he's just had new robot arms and legs attached, and he's obviously not quite used to them yet.

I never knew that either, I thought he was dating some girl from that Desperate House Wives show. So is he going to build a death star or something?

Hayden Christiensen wasn't in Episode I
