You be surprised how often you find videos of people driving. When I got my new exhaust on, and a few other toys put in, my buddy hopped in the passenger seat with a video camera.

Hey, you know what? Those 3 little whores who got knocked up. That's "natural selection" because they're breeding smart and responsible people off of the planet. Doesn't that depress you?

First time I think one of my current threads has reference to another one of my current threads and I didn't make it. I feel special.

I dunno, if you're going to be lame enough to drive a car you seem to know close to nothing about, or ignore obvious warning signs... you may not be fit to drive that car.

As I recall, things don't all of the sudden catch on fire, unless you're being MAD CRAZY stupid.

Rob, actually yes, they can. Perhaps this guy just installed something into his car (like I had done when I was making my video) and they were out cruising making the video of it and that happened. When I put the new pulley in my car, my buddy had his camera with him and we thought "Well the exhaust hasn't been recorded yet so lets try it" and we did. My car could have caught on fire and it could have been caught on tape. This guy might of done just that.

BUT, you didn't ignore the warning signs, and thus were spared having to scrap your internal combustion engine.

These folks obviously did, or didn't know enough to get someone who knew what they were doing, or did something wrong themselves.

But hey, atleast they cleared the road of one more person who probably doesn't know how to drive all that great, but still maintains that they do.

Kind of like that guy a couple years ago here, with the T-top. He flipped his car over, with the top off. Lets just say he never had to worry about headaches anymore..

I always wondered though, why they go all out on the cleanup front if some kid who doesn't know how to drive ends up all over the road, but if a deer ends up all over the road, they practically ignore it.. In general, my state ignores ALOT of roadkill, even when reported... several times.

dude it was obviously an electrical fire started close to the firewall were all the fuses and housing is. It wasn't like the guy blew his engine doing something "mad crazy," i think it was just bad luck because something shorted and bridged and caught fire. pretty random *** **** if you ask me
2005-05-27, 8:04 PM #13
Yeah, sometimes things just go wrong. Things catch fire. It sometimes happens with computers even. I'm sure that must fall under natural selection too [/sarcasm]

I've seen many electronics fizzle out, short circuit, and shoot otherwise unpleasant things. Never however, have I seen anything flare up near close to that.

Like many of the other people I see, they probably thought wrapping things in electrical tape counted as insulation. Even those kids though, I've never seen an full blown fire start.

Seriously, read some car mod dairy dealies, you'd be surprised at the downright unsafe things people do regarding modifications.

oxygen + most likely oiley/grease environment + rising flames + dashboard for fuel = bigger fire then anticipated

I loved how they were trying to put the fire out with that little "ricer" extinguisher. Makes me wanna go buy a real one that you see and keep it in my trunk.

I like how they waited a while before trying to put the fire out.

Yes. And it's cause the car I was looking at has been worked on in detail.

Rob, you seriously need to open your mind up and recognize that you're initial thought about a matter isn't always right. Just cause you haven't "seen" it before doesn't mean it doesn't happen. I seriously find it hard to believe that you're an expert on as many things as you seem to think you are.
If you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice.

lets not incite a flame war about ...flames

Since the fire was so small when it started, I honestly think I would have unzipped and hoped my bladder was full.

Seeing a dead person mangled in the middle of the road tends to be far more traumatizing to the average civilian than bloated road kill carcasses.

bwaaaahahahahah!!!

This is usually the kind of thing you see from people putting 50 watt fuses in 15 watt holes...

Generally speaking, a greasy enviroment doesn't foster fires, as most of the fuel has already been burned off.

I've had my share of car fires, seeing as how I drive one of those "How does that thing even run??" cars... Typically you don't lose your car to an electrical fire if you're an able bodied young person, as most able bodied young people know how to do things like use a fire extinguisher...

I liked the fact they tried to put the fire out from the inside, with the fire extinguisher that didn't work. I like the fact they had an 8 ounce ABC fire extinguisher, instead of a 16 ounce.

What I was suprised to see, is that they didn't pull the fuses, or disconnect the battery... It's like step 1, before you get out of the car. You get out of the car with fire extinguisher in hand - if it's in the trunk, you go there first. I feel sorry for the kid, losing his piece of crap car, but I hope he learns something from this...

Yeah they should just leave the bodies on the road...right
