Sooo, its been a long time sence then. But I've alsays hated JO multiplayer. The saber physics and animations suck in comparison to the extreamly smooth single player animations.

The most saber exitement I've gotten from JO is the ladder. However, Ive come to reallize that JK was WAY more fun in every aspect. Even without the endless list of mods and levels for it (wich was reasonably the best part of the jk experience). The strieght, unmodded, low force Lightsaber battles were more thrilling in there simplicity, and I crave the challange of a real player in melee combat once agen, No more AI I say...

But what of the ability to do this? A resent visit to MSN has shown that Jedi knight games are no longer available for online play via the zone.

So how do I engage in the most Fierce of Melee Battle?
Where now do I turn to fight those who would claim to be "X-perts" only to fall to my blade.
Where now do I go...to see my comrad cut down by the vile toxins of a god saber...
To see the unsuprising message to come: "rOxOrs is cheating, boot him!"
To smile and reply, "A god Saber will kill a man in a single strike will it?.... If thats the case, He'll have to hit ME first before he dies....BRING IT ON!!!!"

Does your hearts not crave the intensity as I do? And how long did it take for the memory of an outdated game excape you? or did you not yet even know of its absense on the zone?

The battles that revolved more around reaction time and skill- direct stratagy over memorizing a layout of attacks and using the right one. JO sabbering is great and feals good single player, but the absence of complexity forced a concentraion of battle that lacked the distractions of veriaty in JK. JK forced you to excell at mere combat rather than knowing how to attack and when, which was satisfying in single player, but was annoying at best with the multi player physics...and I dont know why your movements were different online but it made for a compleately different style. FUN, for a time. But not in the extent of JK classic. Wich I loyaly played for 2 years with no need for any other amusement. Now all games die in a matter of weeks to a cuple of months.

2 years of gameplay.

And now I have nothing to occupy my time. And the option of turning back to my passion is no longer available.

So I guess my point is this:
Is there anywere else to turn to get this great game online?
and does no one else feal as I do about the greatest game I've ever played?

I had no problem playing JO online, using guns or light saber, in any situation.

I did use guns more though.

And especially on duel dorks, who don't know understand the concept of "Death Match."

Hmm. It seems threads about playing JK and JO/JA keep popping up recently.

The times of JK are pretty much over. The memories are nice ( guess).

JO MP rocks, when everyone else uses guns, and you run freakin circles around them with the saber, throwing their crap back at them, and kicking them on the ground.

Best humility combo ever:

Guy runs up to you with flak. You pull him, grabbing his flak, and also kick him, throwing him to the ground. Immediately switch to said flak, and blast him once, for the kill.

You could also DFA him, if you got the proper distance. Although this is less effective, because oftentimes he has the time to dodge, or can push you away. (Even with absorb it will at least stop you short)

So about JK:

Go to the irc.holonet.org server on mIRC and join #Nar or #JKHub and ask for a game. Pretty much anyone will play a game with you, and there are at least 20 different people between the two rooms.

That link brings you to an empty zone room that cannot even connect to the server.

mIRC may be my only hope, even if theres not 250 players at any given time, or at least 20 wich is what there was in the demo room. i played the demo alone for quite some time....I AM VERY FOND OF BESPIN MINING STATION!
but no one with the full version played it cause thay used it to much in the demo.

10 per room, no effective game listing....It'll have to do...

Ugh I hated those people. They bow and stuff, then just stand around and chat.

So you're truely comes in and tears them all apart with a good ol repeater.

Luckily, JA multiplayer isn't as bad. In fact, most servers have a clump of people wailing on eachother with sabers.

And I forgot to mention how funny this post is.

He puts so much work into sounding intelligible and noble but fails because his grammar is that of an elementary school student.

Sadly, the conc in JA isn't what it was in JK. *sad*

It was enough to cause a scatter last time I played MP...
2005-05-29, 10:32 AM #18
Actually, most of the guns are boring and bad. Too bad Raven didn't learn from JO when making JA.

(maybe it would be better on servers without or very little force. Force + sabers make the gameplay uninteresting.)

You judge a man's intelect by the expanse of grammar he wishes to put into an internet message?
That says a great deal about your nobility, sir. And I'd thank you not to insult the way I speak, I do not attempt to sound noble, this is the vocabulary that I choose to speak with. No more, no less. And your missing a comma, jerk.

I hate to disagree with you, because I remember having good times playing JK myself, but I have to. To quote your post:

"The battles that revolved more around reaction time and skill"

"...veriaty in JK. JK forced you to excell at mere combat rather than knowing how to attack and when"

Maybe in the years I played JK online I was extremely unlucky with every game I joined, but I have never experienced the game you're talking about. For one, JK lagged horribly and often even on better connections (including cable), so reaction time and skill are null points. Secondly, all saber duels I remember were less dramatic and more running around, jumping occasionally, and spamming the double-swing alt fire. Like I said, I had good times with JK and made some great friends through it. But I don't think it was as good as some people want to remember.
2005-05-29, 2:43 PM #21
Your opinions are valid. However I myself (always having joined the top latency games) never experienced the lag you refer to. You said that the saber fights were less dramatic, thats kindof the point. The saber fights in the new age games are disigned to be dramatic, to look cool. JK offered a faster gameplay. Your movement speed was faster, and more importaintly, your control was way better. Force speed in JO makes things difficult to handle because of the game physics alone.

I'd love a game that could have JO's movements with JK's physics. Saber Battle X is not that game, and the JO mod that attempted to bring back the old physics failed to. Its just the way quake III is built and probobly can't be fixed with the application of a mod.

Rob, would you mind not trolling? He was having a perfectly fine thread, until you decided it would be funny to insult him on what I would consider halfway decent grammar.

On top of that, no one is laughing. Cut it out, it's annoying.

I didn't insult him.

Apparently people no longer understand the concept of irony.

Insulting him would have been me calling him an idiot directly. I said I thought it was funny that he put in all the extra effort to sound crazy noble and intelligable, but neglected grammar.
2005-05-29, 8:59 PM #30
I apalogize for over-reacting, I thought you were simply trying to be cruel. It seemed as though you were implying that because I did not pay attention to grammar, all my points didnt matter.

However:

Pffft nah.

Actually, what I posted the second time was sarcasm.

This whole e-motion thing is just lost on me.

Really though, I wasn't maknig a judgement on your intelligence. If I wanted to insult someone.. you'd know, because my insult vocabulary is indeed a sight.

Every form of human interaction is based upon your audience.

Example, you wouldn't talk to your boss the same way you do your friends. Unless... your boss is your friend. (Good for you champ)

But on the internet, the only thing you're audience sees its what you type. When you're trying to convey a certain ammount of intelligence, and neglect the realm of grammar.. it just sounds a little silly.

In other words, Bushisms make me giggle.

Sorry if you, or anyone else felt insulted. I only insult when insulted for the record.

Anywho..

JODM... The people who play it (All 6 or 7 people) still suck at the game, and kick you for ruling at it.

sorry to jump in here, I didn't read the whole thread... but last I heard about TDiR, HR was coding a zone type lobby program so that TDiR players could find each other and join/create games.

i don't know much about it, but perhaps he could do it for regular JK as well.
