1. EXT. NIGHT. Jungle.
On my belly, I crawl through the long grass, quickly, spotting a guard, i don my black camoflage, I am invisible to him. The fool walks right by, I figure he needs punishing for such stupidity. I stand up, a dark silhouette against the grey green of the night jungle.
Stalking toward him, not breathing, I can feel the heat of his body as I get right behind him. I grab him and press my knife to his throat, "SPEAK" I command of him.
"uhh, uhh uhh, 149.63, call this frequency to cancel an alert".
I cut his throat, as if the fool thinks i'll alert anyone. In the distance I see another patrol, I grab the body and drag it into the dark corners of the long grass, under a tree that casts a looming shadow.
Resuming the crawl through the long grass, I slowly screw a silencer on my Mk-22. Its a weak gun compared to the others in my backpack but nothing is sweeter for putting these guys into a lovely long slumber.
BRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGUUUUUUHHHHHH
Ughh, perfect timing, just when the Snake is about to strike, HUNGER STRIKES!
I remove my knife from its holster and backtrack through the grass, finding my prey with the help of Thermal Goggles.
A King Cobra.
Tasty.
I crawl up to it, apparently it can't see me in this light.
I raise my knife, about to strike down at it.
****!
****ER BIT ME!
I stop myself shouting out and quickly inject some serum to combat the deadly poison of this beast. Now i'm angry, I kill the little ****er and eat it ravenously.
After taking a 5 minute nap (hey, huge feasts like that even make the most awesome of people sleepy!) I resume my attack on the feeble patrol.
Planting a tranquilizer dart into the back of one of their heads, he drops to the ground. Sadly, his friend notices that his colleague decided to take a nap in the jungle, running over to wake him up, I have no choice but to charge.
I run at him, dive into a ball and smack him head on in the solar plexus. He goes down, unconcious.
Screwing a silencer on my custom .45, I put a bullet in both of their brains, following this I drag them into the bush and leave them to rot in peace.
THIS GAME IS AWESOME!!!
Gameplay-wise this is one of the most finely crafted games i've ever played, the whole thing is completely masterful, the only thing I could wish for above what I have is that the whole area was one huge zone, in a morrowind style, as opposed to seperate areas, although I don't know if a PS2 could handle that.
The graphics are something to behold, some of the characters look brilliant.
Characters? A few members of the cobra unit are awesome, The Pain and The End especially.
The story isn't as particuarly intricate or complex as previous MGS games but god damn, its good.
This is easily one of the best games i've played in years, it takes immersive gameplay to a whole new level.
As far as story and characters go, MGS still wins, but the pure gameplay elements of this chapter in the MG story blow me away, they are fantastic.
The lack of radar is awesome too, as I never really use the sonar or m.detector.
What are your thoughts on the game? I <3 it.
