Zero-point energy

So I was doing a little research on ZPE and I haven't come up with much. Probably because most physicists seem to think it's bullocks. I was wondering if anyone around here knew more about it (i.e. Mort-Hog)?

IIRC, ZPE is the lowest possible type of energy in terms of velocity. Theoretically, we are supposedly surrounded by it everywhere we go, in possibly infinite quantities. Other than that, I don't know much about it.

Wiki does wonders.

If you don't feel like going, I'll give you the skinny--a particle in a box has zero velocity, and therefore has zero energy. Quantum mechanics says that if a particle in a box has zero energy, that its position is basically infinitely unkown, and can't be in the box. Thus, a particle's energy can never be zero. ZPE is just the smallest amount of energy that said particle can have.

and Syndrome uses it in The Incredibles.
If you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice.

The Ancients have perfected ZPE. The contain enough energy to allow you to travel from one galaxy to another. :p

I have perfected ZPE. It contains enough energy to pick up explosive barrels and fling them at zombies.:p

The part of Quantum mechanics he's referring is the Heizenberg Uncertainty Principle. HUP states that the more you know about the particle's position, the less you know about it's velocity and vice versa. The best you can do is probability waves and then you get into stuff Schroedinger did.

You may want to look up the Casimir Effect. It's similar to ZPE I believe.
Code to the left of him, code to the right of him, code in front of him compil'd and thundered. Programm'd at with shot and $SHELL. Boldly he typed and well. Into the jaws of C. Into the mouth of PERL. Debug'd the 0x258.

Already read the Wikipedia article and read a little about Cashmere effect. I mean, Casimir.
