What happened to the new Family Guy?
2005-05-30, 11:29 AM #1
I watched last night all excited...Only to see that it was a rerun of the LAST episode that was on 2 weeks ago...

Where are the new family guy episode's... we're only 3 episode's in, this should have been Episode 4 (or 5 i think maybe)... Either way, where are they?

Last week's was cancelled due to AOTC showing, but this week, I thought it would return...What's going on?
2005-05-30, 11:30 AM #2
This week's was cancelled due to racing.
2005-05-30, 11:32 AM #3
FRIGGING Racing... No wonder I didnt notice, I was watching Global. Not fox.

So I missed Family Guy because some people wanted to watch a bunch of cars go fast around corners over and over and over 10000 times...GJFOXKTHXBI!

I know. It's been two weeks in a row without Family Guy. :(

This is why every show on fox fails.

it can't be as bad as when you get a 30 minute break in a film so they can show the news, that annoys the **** out of me.

Fox has a terrible habit of not keeping shows in a consistent time slot. That's why shows like Family Guy and Fire Fly were canceled.

Fox is trying to cram a lot of sports in. MLB, NFL, NASCAR, NHL? Of course they're going to carry the World Series, Super Bowl, whatever championship race NASCAR is, thus only "cancelling" stuff like Family Guy.

Family Guy was cancelled because of the jewish episode..
2005-05-30, 1:58 PM #11
That would explain why then. Fox did something politically incorrect and was met by 2357025.244 different interest groups screaming "OMG THEY MAEK FUN OF TEH JEWZ! B&"

I haven't seen that episode though.

I don't think that was the only reason, especailly since it never aired on TV.

1. I'm sure that these groups would state their arguments more intelligently.

2. That episode is offensive.

3. If someone is offended, they have just as much right to throw in a greivance as you do to ***** about your precious television show being taken off the air... some would even argue more so.

Um..Give me an example of one episode of Family Guy where not any group isn't made fun of in some way.

South Park did the same... Hell, they had a whole episode about teh Special Olympics... FUnny as hell episode but still, I don't understand how some disabled people couldn't get offended by it.

People take **** too seriously nowadays, they seriously need to loosen their *******s.

Most of the people that make Family Guy are Jewish anyway.

Family Guy was never officially cancelled. What I had heard was that the writers all got new jobs due to repeated threats someone at Fox made concerning the show's cancellation. When a new person came in that wanted a new season the writers had already left.

It wasn't about When You Wish Upon a Weinstein episode, Fox just refused to air that.

Also regarding good shows Fox cancelled, I always thought Futurama was great.

Not what I heard. I heard the Jewish people got offended and fox took it off the air. THey had no intentions on rescheduling it for another season until they realised that it was doing profoundly great on DVD sales, so they brought it back due to that large demand. $$$

TV shows get canceled for one reason: Poor ratings. That's it. Family Guy was cut the first time because it wasn't getting great ratings (due to the jumping of it's time slot all the time).

I heard the Jewish episode, When You Wish Upon A Weinstein originally had a scene in a Jewish temple where people were throwing the Star of David like shuriken and decapitating people. Probably the Las Vegas temple at the end when Lois stops the barmitzvah. This is what my brother told me, so take it with a grain, or jar, of salt.

The Wish Upon a Weinstein episode never aired in it's original form, despite several changes. The show was even sent to a couple rabbis to see if it was too over the top, but they approved of the episode. Fox still refused to show it. When Cartoon Network picked it up, the altered show was aired.

Listen to the commentary for the episode on the DVD. It explains a lot.

Also, the show couldn't have been cancelled because of the episode, because as far as I know, it was created in season two or early season three. If you notice, in the episode Chris still has earings, but the earing were removed during season 3.

Yea ive gotten a little edgy waiting this 2 weeks for a new episode. And yes, family guy is about the most crude, offensive, hilarious show ever.

Right. So, like Firefly, Fox killed the show by never AIRING IT WHEN IT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE AIRED, OR IN THE ORDER IT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE AIRED, OR STARTING WITH THE FRAKING PILOT EPISODE INSTEAD OF EPISODE 2.

pant pant pant. I'm not bitter. Really.

One word: Cable

Cable is a choice that someone can make if they want to have it or not. If you don't want cable, then don't get it. But you can't stop over the air televsion. Of course, they have the choice whether they want to watch it or not, but remember, that makes too much sense and we can't make people take responsibility for themselves.

South Park is essentially what Family Guy and the Simpsons would be on cable. I could only imagine what Groening and McFarlane would do if they could have the chance to not worry about censoring their shows (at least to the extent that they have too on FOX)

The Simpsons was never meant to be very edgy. The great thing about Family Guy is the subtlety of its edgy, even offensive comedy - offen your average super conservative Catholic won't get some of the hidden dirty jokes. Family Guy is funny that way, with hidden wit and sarcasm often, too. It's like British comedy vs American comedy, Family Guy is the British one, South Park is the blatant, out loud American one. (I don't mean to say Family Guy is at all like British comedy, but the humor is often more hidden and subtle than slapstick American).

For example, the episode where Peter joins the NGA (NRA). He's showing the shotgun to Lois, and he's like:

It's so big isn't it? You wanna touch it? But be careful, you don't want it to get excited and go off in your hair.

Translation:
[Censored translation involves a penis and ejaculation]

Most of you probably got the original joke, but I translated just in case. And I want to see how long it takes the mods to censor it.

[Haha, I got here first! -Vinny]

Oh wow Emon, I give it about 2 seconds as soon as a mod sees that for the censorship to go on.

But yeah, I agree :x

The Jewish Episode in question was in season two, so I don't think that's why it was cancelled, because they went through a whole other season.
