Does anyone know of any program that will play .mpeg's, .avi's, .wmv's, and other such common video formats? I looked around an awful lot and couldn't find one.

I tried Winamp before, a lot of times it just refuses ot play =/ I'll check out those other two though, thanks a lot =)

I know this is about video, but for audio, nothing beats old-school winamp (2.x). It's free and has little to no bloat.

Funny. Winamp 5 will do it... but I use Media Player Classic for everything.

Its possible that was because you didnt have the correct codecs installed. If you dont have them, get and install the DivX and XViD codecs. A lot of movies on the internet use these two formats because they are very good at compressing movies and producing small file size.

It plays almost everything! Actually there was no video file I could not play with it. While Windows Media Player (Classic), PowerDVD, DivXPlayer, Winamp fainted, VideoLan still played it. It even plays Quicktime stuff, I think. Try it!

Someone was bugging me with it all the time, that vlan is sooo cool, that I never tried it till I had a video I couldn't play with anything. I made a mistake by encoding/burning it. Nothing could play it, but than i downloaded vlan and my video was not lost any more. ( I couldn't even open it with virtual dub...).
