Just saw this, it has to be fake. No way your body could still stand after you pass out. And great friends letting a stranger load him into a stretcher like that right after he appears, and of course why didn't he just shoot the locks off the doors? And what if he ran up with that gun and began smashing the skulls in on the zombies? BTW might have mild language, I think he screams the 'F' word a few times.
I can't think of anything to put here right now.

O_O

Possibly fake, although maybe real. I've heard of pyschological experiments done to see how people react. Creepy.

The game designer kind of reminds me of some Massassian... Martyn, maybe...

Well, real or fake, it still gave me a good laugh. Perhaps I relish too much in other people's despair...

Alright huge discussion on this other site, speculating that the video is real and while he was hypnotized, he was told a few things like "Dont hit them with the gun only shoot, it hurts just zombies" and that if the guy came out at the end and touched him in a certain spot, he'd pass out.

Still I don't get the thing with the friends, or why he didn't fall over.
I can't think of anything to put here right now.

I WANT TO PLAY. And I, too found this sick joke absolutely hilarious, although I'd probably pluge myself early on to prevent zombification.

Bah, I've had nightmares about Doom 3 before, how much worse could this be?

But I want to play it anyways.

Yes indeed.

I wish they would have shown some footage of them showing the video of himself to the guy. That would've been awsome.

If this was real: That's just disturbing. I don't like the fact that they do that to some random person... no talk beforehand or anything. Is that even something that's legal to do? Anyways.. I'm leaning towards fake, IDK.. there's just something about that whole thing with the friends and him not falling down that tags it as "fake" in my mind.

That's some mighty powerful hypnosis there! I don't believe it.

It's been proven that flashes of light can cause different adverse effects on people. Including seizures and hypnosis.

If it's real, it's a virtual certainty that his friends were in on it.

It was on Derren Brown on Channel 4 a few weeks ago. The guy is said Derren Brown, you might let some guy with Tv cameras and his own Show cart your friend off somewhere.
nope.

Everyone in Britland knows about Derren Brown, his friends would almost certainly have gone along with it without being talked to in advance.

Its not.

The whole thing is faked for TV. The guy wouldnt be standing up after being put into a trance, and notice how he grasps the gun when he is given it.

He's a crap actor too - he says "I will shoot you" so many times, its silly. "You're ****ing dead" etc.

Hands up who here would willingly shoot someone instead of easily kicking open a locked door (in that corridor where he runs initially). The gun is also a dead giveaway, unless the guy is a certified idiot.

His friends would also have had some concern over what was actually happening to him, wouldnt you?
"Whats that for?" "Thats the machine that goes 'ping'" PING!

Are you sure that isn't limited to those with epilepsy?

It seems far fetched to me that someone can gain complete control over someone by flashing the right light. In fact, if that's true, that's pretty scary.

CAN cause, not DOES cause. Some people don't notice it at all.

I swear to god I'm not lying about this, but whenever I am playing Counterstrike source, and I get flashbanged and I am zoned in on the game it makes be for a split second feel light headed. Not sickening, I don't feel nauseated or anything, my head just feels light as hell for a split second.

Let's break down the facts:

I could be True
The host is VERY well known.
Brits tend to go to multiple pubs in a night. He could be slightly drunk.
Flashes of lights DO cause people to pass out, but only a fraction of people are actually effected. This part is true.
If you're panicking and afraid (Like the entire thing is meant to show) than you're probably not going to look at small details like your gun, etc.
We ALL say odd things in the spare of the moment. Repeating "I will shoot you" and "I ****ing got you" over and over again isn't all that odd.

It could be False
His friends still didn't have much of a reaction at all.
He kept his arm horizontal after the arcade gun was put back into his hand.
It's all illegal.
Neither of his friends went through any trance phases, unlike the guy who slowly fell into it.
It's unlikelly that you could stand someone up and they'd stay standing.

I find it pretty hard to believe, but I wouldn't be totally suprised if it were real, either.

I've always wanted to do something like this with a church and religious people. Make jesus slam through the stained glass windows of some church and land in front of people. Make the heavans shine down on him from that window and when he gets angry, make lightning strike or something like that.

Or better yet, make the devil come to a church or something. Set up fires outside the church, maybe even find a secluded church and burn the grass and make demonish things outside. Lock the front door, and have the devil burn a stuntman with a touch of the finger.

Of course, all that's probably illegal.

Reminds me of that Sci Fi Channel show "Scare Tactics". Same basic premise, 'cept without the trance. On ST, they would have just gone to a pub in a really empty part of town they could pretty much rent out for the night.

-some of the stunts on that show were pretty freaky. I really like the alien attack in the first episode. Apperantly the date just went downhill from there.

Why didn't the gun run out of bullets (caps) after so many shots?

Some fake guns can hold a crapload of ammo in comparison to real guns. I've got an airsoft gun that holds 300 rounds in one magazine.

Heh, it looked like the lady on the ground was getting hurt when he just started nailing her over and over again.

Wow that was crazy. I hope its real, because that was cool as ****. One thing I thought seemed fake was his reaction after he wakes up when they put him back at the game machine. I would of thought he would be alot more confused and **** but he just seemed like he believed it was just a really good game or something. Unless of course he didnt remember what had happened because of the trance or something.
2005-06-05, 6:00 PM #26
I think, like I said, he probably blamed it on the alcohol or maybe he zoned out or something like that. Would you tell someone if that happened to you? They'd be like "Mhmmm, whatever."

I came to this thread just to see it again.

One thing I don't get is how the blood splattered all over the "zombies" but not on the host guy, and how they reacted to it and he didn't.
DO NOT WANT.
2005-06-05, 7:20 PM #28
The first thing I would do is go up and whack the crap out of them with the butt of the gun. Then I'd hide in the corner and cry until I was rescued/eaten.
Very funny Scotty. Now beam down my clothes.

The guy playing the game was likely to be far more focused than those watching him play it, who occasionally looked away to sip at a drink, in case you didn't notice. ;)

Neither of these are at all unlikely. Ever hear of sleepwalking? I'm pretty sure that requires standing. ;)

That's usually what happens with hypnosis.

I didn't notice any "blood" splattering, but I'll play it back in Premiere frame-by-frame and see what I get.

I think it's fake too.. but even still... it would be a GREAT prank to pull on a frind who is passed out drunk... there wouldn't even have to be a game before hand for me.. if I passed out drunk, then woke up in a hospital surrounded by dead people and a gun in my hand.. I would be freaking out....

reminds me of some of my pranks I use to pull on friends back in the day.. ;)

BTW, I HATE scare tactics... we were doing that crap 10 years ago to our firends (acting like there was a killer outside.. we used fake blood and animal guts from a butcher shop... we even made a few of my friends cry... then scare tactics came out... not only did it ruin our fun (couldn't sacre anyone else cause the show had done some "killer" scares... but now when we show people the videos (yes we video taped them) they are like.. oh, original idea guys.. scare tactics... even though the date at the bottom is clearly before scare tactics... makes me upset..
