Or at least I will be very very soon.
About 5 weeks ago I quit my job at Fry's Electronics and just kind of kicked back for a little while. About 1 week ago I started a new job selling Cell Phones at a kiosk inside Sam's Club. It sounds like it would be a low-level job, but basically I'll be making only slightly less than what I made at Fry's, but only working 32 hours a week, with much easier shifts, and less bull****.
To get to the point, one of the things that makes this job hard, is that right next to the kiosk they have a 50" plasma on display, with... you quessed it, Star Wars: A New Hope playing. At first this was cool, but then sometimes it makes it hard to pay attention. Now, it's just annoying, cause I've probably seen it about 20 times worth within one week. Now, they would have had to open the DVD trilogy to play this thing, so you would think they could stick in ESB by now.
Anyways, as far as the job goes, so far it's pretty good. Things are a little bit stressful at the moment because doing new activations and upgrading rate plans and all that can be very confusing when you have to learn how to do it for three different carriers who all want it done a different way. Not to mention, that it has to be rung up in the POS system the right way or else I could land in trouble.
Besides that, the only thing that's different is this job actually requires a bit more responsibility than Fry's. The kiosk that I work at only has three associates; me, another sales rep, and the supervisor, who also sells. With only three people, pretty much all my shifts boil down to either opening the store and getting it ready for business, or closing the store getting it ready for the next day. That's no problem though as I am pretty responsible when it comes to my job, at least.
That's all for now. Maybe on another thread I'll go into commissions specifics and why it's so much better than Fry's.
