Recent purchases? (namely Coldplay - X&Y)

Made any interesting purchases recently? I bought Coldplay's new album today.

Yes, this is a blatent attempt to get a thread about my favourite band's new album on the discussion forum - sue me :p

First imressions. X&Y is very aurally full-on. Coldplay have taken the idea from A Rush of Blood to the Head of a lot of things making music at once, then making them all come together and sound nice. Personally, I love it. The music is multi-layered and you notice something new about each song every time you listen to it. Lead singer Chris Martin said 'Parachutes was like a gentle hand on the knee. X&Y is a good rogering'. Very true. Every song is complex with Martin often exploring his full vocal range. The album is also rather long (again in stark comparison to Parachutes) with no song under 4 minutes and quite a few over 5.

U2 guitar moments abound. If you like the way The Edge plays, buy this album. It's a little dissapointing to not have as many piano-driven tracks as ARoBttH with John Buckland's guitar coming back to the forefront, but the addition of an organ on a few tracks is interesting and welcome.

Having only listened to this album one and a half times so far it's hard to form any true opinions, but so far White Shadows and the beautiful Fix You (gave me goosebumps the first time - destined to be a hit single and would be absolutely magical live) have made the biggest impression.

So thoughts on the album? Or Coldplay?

Or anything else you've bought recently...

I haven't heard anything by Coldplay, let alone anything from their new album. But I did just buy a Slipknot CD and Metal Arms: Glitch in the System for my PS2. I'll probably have to buy a new PS2 if I break it out of frustration at the difficulty (yeah, I'm somewhat bad at video games) of the game!
I had a blog. It sucked.

I work at Walmart, and we have Walmart TV going all the time. There is one commercial for a Coldplay tour that Walmart and AOL are sponsoring, and it plays about a second and a half worth of Clocks, and it's driving me nuts. I hear the commercial at least a dozen times a day, and I really want to hear the whole song, because it's a song I enjoy., But all I get is the measly second and a half. Walmart is nothing but a bunch of jerks.

Getting X&Y as soon as I can get out to the record store. Your reveiw has only made me more eager.

I'm getting X&Y when it comes out over here on Tuesday. I can't wait! Today I bought Iron & Wine - Our Endless Numbered Days, and The Decemberists - Her Majesty.

Pre-ordered Foo Fighters' new CD today. AND I purchased a strawberry-flavored snocone earlier this evening.

I'd like to punch Chris Martin in the face.

PSP and Twisted Metal: Head-On.

Rich Burlew Was at the local comic shop, selling the Order of the Stick paperback, and drawling pictures on the cover. I requested Durkon, which suprised him, because Durkon doesn't get many requests. I don't know why. Dwarves kick ***!

I didn't realize the new Coldplay CD was out already. I'll have to get that the next time I go out.

Sweet, I was going to pre-order it (the CD, not a snocone), but I decided that I'd like to have the CD in my hands when I fork over my $35.

Err, I just recently bought some phone credit. Yay me.

Uh, not only does Coldplay come out tomorrow in the States, but also The White Stripes and Black Eyed Peas. I think I'll get the new Oasis, too, making 4playTuesday a reality.

Although, the last things I bought:
WarioWare Twisted
WarioWare Micromini Game$
Gorillaz - Demon Days

Hmm... I bought the Running Man DVD from eBay (since it's not out in australia yet), I bought a parma and beer at the pub on friday, I bought some clothes for the first time in a long time - 2 tops and a jacket. Oh, and 3 pairs of boxer shorts.

Spork, that review intrigues me. Maybe if I see that album for a little cheaper than average, i'll pick it up. It sounds like I might enjoy it, especially considering I'm the type of person that can sit and just listen to a whole album end to end on my nice sound system, similar to how many people would just watch a dvd.

hmm, i bought an ice coffee from dunks yesterday, the obi-wan kenobi sound fx lightsaber ( namely for the board inside the saber as i am trying to install in it my RLSA Saber), a pair of blue baseball socks, prom tickets x2, and a knock-off pair of oakley's. Quite an expensive weekend.

There are MUCH better games out there. I think Twisted Metal is a bit meh, really.

But uh, last purchase was Lumines, Call of Duty Deluxe (CoD, UO, Soundtrack, Guides all for 40 bucks), and a screen wiper thing for the PSP since I lost mine (99c).

Eh, I like Coldplay. I might as well go buy it. A lot of people seem to like it, and they were just on VH1 for something.
