Need some input on what I should get for Christmas...

Ok, like every year, I only get a cap of $100 from my folks for my Christmas gift this year. Here are some of the items I'm thinking of choosing. I could use some help here because I'm really undecided as to which is the best to get for myself.

17" CRT Moniter ($83) - I've been needing a moniter for a very long time now. My current moniter is like 6 years old, 13 inches in size, and can't go above 1024x768. It also seems to have a refresh rate of only 75 hertz. Also, it has this glitch where I have to slap the side of the moniter repeatedly when I first turn it on in order to get rid of a yellow shade that the display sometimes goes into. It's quite annoying and really shows that this moniter is a POS. I considering upgrading it to a 17" moniter with a minimum of 1280x1024 or so. I found such a moniter on pricewatch.com for only $83.

AMD Athlon XP 2.0ghz CPU - ($76) - I could really use a new CPU right now. My current CPU is a AMD Duron 1.3ghz. A lot of the new games that come out are getting quite sluggish and I think a CPU upgrade would be good. I insist on getting a CPU that is at least 2.0ghz - anything less would seem like not much of a upgrade.

Geforce FX 128mb or Radeon 9200 - Like I mentioned in the CPU description, games have been running sluggish and I think that it could be due to my Geforce4 MX card as well as the CPU. I'm undecided as to which Card I should get - should I stick with the Geforce series or switch over to Ati's Radoen series?

That CPU upgrade is not -that- huge, so it would be lowest on my list personally. I'd avoid an entry level Geforce FX and get the best raedon you can afford if you go the video card route.

Honestly though, given how crappy your monitor is - that's definitely what I'd upgrade.

Ask for a 100$ check, accumulate money and then buy them all at once.

If you do get a video card, I would definately recommend you get some sort of an ATI card. Although a 9600 would be a better choice than the 9200, just so you know.

Out of the three, the monitor definately seems like it would be the most influential.

Also remember your motherboard might not be able to take a new processor...
